As the nurse came out to assess Jamie, she shooed Timmy off to class. He looked down at his timetable, and quickly came to the realisation that class time would be a place he wouldn't be able to protect Jamie. While Timmy's capacity to learn and understand had certainly developed, it still didn't make up for him missing a lot of the base level of knowledge needed to pass some of the more difficult courses. So while Jamie remained in the high-level subjects with the other nerds, Timmy was in the easier class, along with much of the school's 'jock' population.
All heads turned as Timmy walked into English. The teacher didn't even ask him why he was so late, his eyes too wide as he drank in the seven-year-old's massive form. The students, too, had matching expressions, somewhere between awe and terror. As Timmy walked by them, his own gaze found the bullies he'd humiliated earlier, and he scowled. The bullies bowed their heads, not apologetic, but in fear that there would be further retribution. The only person who didn't seem to cower from Timmy's titanic form was a boy at the back, with dark hair and wide, blue eyes, with a smile slowly creeping across his face. He waved at Timmy, and gestured to the empty seat next to him.
Timmy sat down in the offered chair. The boy turned to him, grinning, as the teacher dazedly got on with the class. "You must be Timmy!"
Timmy eyed him with suspicion. "How did you know?"
"I talked to Jamie this morning, he told me what had happened. I'm Charlie," he said, holding out a hand for Timmy to shake, which he did so in a vice-like grip that nearly ripped Charlie's not-insignificant arms straight from their sockets. Charlie winced, but didn't drop the smile. "We've already met before, but you probably don't recognise me, do you?"
Timmy squinted. "Wait... Charles? You used to come over and play games with Jaime."
"Yeah... used to..." he replied, and laughed a little nervously. "I'm also the one who gave him the pill."
"The pill?"
"Yeah, the pill. The thing that turned you into what you are now," Charlie explained, then watched as confusion, shock, then disbelief crossed Timmy's face. "He didn't tell you about the pill, did he?"
Timmy shook his head. Charlie continued. "Well, it was supposed to be for Jamie, to make him bigger, so bullies didn't pick on him."
"But instead, I took it," Timmy finished, understanding flooding through him. "Oh, I'm sorry, Jamie."
"Hey, dude, don't be sorry!" Charlie assured him. "The pill wouldn't have worked half as well on Jamie as it did you. You're, like, the perfect specimen!"
A sly look crossed his face. "Say, how would you like to take another?"
Timmy's eyes narrowed in disgust. "You want me to take another? And not even give Jamie one? No way."
"Hey, hey, I didn't say I wouldn't give Jamie one, I just said I could give you another. I've got plenty of these things!" Charlie lied. A thoughtful expression passed over Timmy's features. But, they were interrupted by the bell ringing.
"Ah, I've got advanced economics next, which I'm guessing you don't have," Charlie said. Despite his rapid change in appearance, it didn't stop him from being any less of a nerd. Timmy, who didn't even qualify for the class, shook his head. "Well, tell you what. You can think it over, and meet me at lunch to give me your decision, how does that sound? I'll even cover your lunch money, too, as a gesture of goodwill."
Before Timmy could reply, Charlie had grabbed his bag and sped out the door, leaving the giant to think on it alone.
