Svengali The Hypnotist

Looking around, you decide after a while to step into the tent marked "Svengali The Hypnotist". The sign is nondescript and the tent as well, in white and blue stripes. Weird, but you ARE more than a little intrigued by what that Svengali might do. Yet you are sure there are also high chances that this guy is a fraud too. So you enter the tent and see a box in which you put a ticket. You cross into the main part of the tent and see a comfortable-looking armchair and a table, with a comfy chair. You look around and see no one, but not for long. A man arrives. He looks rather banal, with combed-back hair, a suit and rather large teeth.
"Hello, sir," he says with a big smile.
"Hello," you answer back. "Are you... er... Mr. Svengali?"
"Yes indeed."
"Er... You don't... er..." you stammer.
"Yes, people expect a character more... exotic. But it is a simple stage name and I rather dress in proper clothes than a ludicrous costume. It's a matter of taste. Don't you agree?"
You nod.
"Sure... Yeah."
"Shall we start? It won't hurt a bit and you will feel not only relaxed, but much better eventually."
Having spent your ticket, you follow his orders. You lie down on the armchair. It IS really comfortable. Then Svengali settles himself into the chair and retrieves from his suit pocket a crystal pendulum. In a very soft voice, he tells you to relax and to simply follow the movements of the pendulum. And his voice. You obey and the pendulum swings. Back and forth. Back and forth. Many times. You lose track of time, in fact. You start closing your eyes and sleep lightly. But Svengali's voice is there. It's always there. Soft. Reassuring. Caressing. Telling you you will be fine after a nice little talk and a n ice little nap. So you just drift away, content to be soothed by his kind voice. But what you don't know is that the pendulum is magical, just as Svengali is a warlock. He will hypnotise you to say what he wants you to be. And then, the magic of the pendulum will act and you will transform into what it heard you say you wished to be.
