James' thoughts were suddenly interrupted by faint sounds of arguing before hearing the front door slam open, his parents arguing again...He sighs as he closes the book to try to eavesdrop on the conversation, which wasn't hard by how loud they were shouting. His mother, Alice, was crossing her arms, staring daggers at her husband, Jordan. Both of them were older, average looking millennials. Alice raised her voice again. "Why are you always ignoring me? Please just tell me if something is wrong!"
Jordon grunted, rolling his eyes at this again. "I'm not ignoring you Alice, how many times do I got to say that? I just need my space is all, okay?"
Alice wasn't happy with that answer, she stomped her foot down. "What are you not telling me? Are you cheating on me? You're cheating on me, aren't you?"
James exhaled sharply, planting his feet on the ground to try to calm his anger. "Oh my fucking God Alice, no I'm not cheating on you! Please just give me space for a bit, okay!"
Alice wasn't happy with that either as she picked up a nearby glass and threw it at James. James managed to dodge last second, shattering at the wall behind him. Somehow, that was the sound that woke up the baby in the nearby room, James' three-month-old sister Carly. This was so terrible! He had to do something that would end this fight!! His parents are hiding something from each other, if only they were more honest. Oh wait, maybe that's it! James opened the book again, thinking about human instincts once more.
"Humans also have a third instinct, the need to be completely open and honest with each other and always speak their mind. This instinct is so strong that no human can ever ignore it. This instinct will only begin and start immediately"
The book added that under the rules of human instincts. James grabbed the book and snuck out of his bedroom to watch and eavesdrop without being seen.
Jordan looked back at her, bewildered from the violent act from his wife. "Oh great, now you woke up the mistake. Now I have two whiny bitches." The man looked surprised at his words and then covered his mouth, clearly not wanting to say such things.
Alice was taken aback, used to his husband's way more grounded demeanor. "Wh-what mistake? You said you loved her as much as you loved me..."
Jordon uncovered his mouth to talk again. "I never loved you, I only married you in hopes that your father's wealth would coast me along for life, but then you messed it up!" Jordon covered his mouth again, his heart beating fast as hell as he just gave away his deepest secret from her.
The wife screeched in anger and started seething in rage. "Oh my God I knew it! You fucking monster! I have no regrets about cheating on you for the past 10 years, honestly I wish I cheated HARDER!" And then it was Alice's turn to cover her mouth, both adults looking at each other as they completely ruined their relationship on the spot, the only sound now was Carly's crying. Jordon looks towards his wife with very wide eyes. "Alice, I'll take care of Carly this time. Please go to our bedroom, we can talk about this from there." Alice nodded and turned around and brisked off to the master bedroom while Jordon goes the opposite direction to Carly's room.
Shit! James thought, I just made everything worse! He went back to look at his book. Maybe he can change something else about human instincts to salvage their marriage? He started at the rules again, knowing that he had to think quickly!
"Humans have three instincts: The Primary instinct is the need to survive as long as possible. The secondary instinct is to be as happy as possible indefinitely. Additionally, humans have the strongest instinct to always be completely honest and to always think their minds, no human can resist this instinct."
