The day arrives and they are both nervous. They go to the designation center where the tests are, they show up and both take the tests, each one separately and in their group. They were texts, about maturity and their lives. And physical tests. They even took blood.
In the end, they both went to the waiting room.
"You're looking a little nervous, Jonathan," Mary whispered as they sat in the waiting room. She was a little anxious about how their test results would come out but she wasn't trying to show it.
"Why should I be nervous? It's only the rest of my life that will be determined here." Jonathan tried to pass off his anxiety with a joke but it was clear from the sweat on his brow that it was overwhelming him.
"Hey," Mary whispered as she put her hand over his, "no matter what, we're going to stay together. They put that on our forms."
Right before Jonathan could respond, their handheld devices buzzed with the result of their tests. Both of them read on their screens...
