The werewolf rose up on her hind legs, opening its mouth to howl, but emitting no sound. Chris ran away as fast as his legs could carry him, trying to get back to the crowds.
The werewolf followed quickly and silently. Though it should have been making enough noise to raise the dead, this strange mime-werewolf simply made no noise at all. No howls, not even footfalls, and it made it quite hard for Chris to tell where it was in relation to him.
He made it back to the midway, in the bright lights of the carnival, and felt almost immediately safer. He looked around, trying to see his pursuer, and saw nothing menacing at all, simply people enjoying the carnival.
