From the highest point of the tree, Tylda looks down, spying a group of outsiders walking into the village. They looked strange, none of them had the pointed ears she had seen on every person she had met in her entire life. One was clearly human, tall and muscled which also looked strange to her. While elves could be strong, they didn't tend to develop muscle mass as humans did, their strength coming from the magic in their blood.
The second figure was even stranger than the human, to Tolna's eyes. They were floating a few inches above the ground, and appeared to be made up of a cyclone of rotating crystal shards that reflected the light. Sometimes it might form into something resembling a humanoid, but very rarely while moving.
The third figure was both closer to what she was familiar with, and further away from it. She was tall, with skin of bright crimson. A forked tail swished behind her as she moved, chatting animatedly with the crystal on one side and the human on the other. As Tylda watched, the strange creature tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, and began untangling a strand that had gotten stuck around one of the two short horns on her head.
"Tola, adventurers are here!" Tylda said "A human and two races I don't recognise."
"I see them," Tola said. Tylda looked down to see that Tola had anchored herself lower down the trunk, her eyes closed so that she could more easily look through her sister's eyes. Tylda obligingly looked back out at the adventurers "I think the red-skinned one is a Tiefling. Not sure about the third one. Should we head down and find out more?"
