Jeff finds it hard to decide on what to do, his parents were away for the weekend, his dad is on some business meeting or conference, while his mother decided to visit her sister who lives in a different state and about 8 hours drive from their home. The teen had been tasked with watching after his 4-year-old brother Ashley, who everyone refers to as “Ash”, but Jeff being Jeff, he’d rather spend parent-free weekend playing video games, hanging around the house doing nothing, or currently trying to decide what to do with the program he just got.
The teen lets out a sigh, “I think I’ll take a break and have a snack,” he mumbles to himself, “hopefully it’ll help me decide what to try out next”. Jeff gets to his feet and walks out of his room, not bothered at least to minimize the program or shut his door, ‘Ash is busy playing with his toys and will be occupied the whole day,’ is all Jeff thinks to himself as he makes his way down into the kitchen to make himself a snack.
However, as Jeff begins to rummage around in the kitchen, Ash steps out of his room and heads straight for Jeff’s room, “Jeeeeeff… I’m bo… oh… he’s not here,” the 4-year-old says as he enters Jeff’s room to find it empty. Ash then hears clanging coming from the kitchen, “oh… Jeff must be in the kitchen,” he says to himself, starting to turn to head downstairs, but as he turns, his eyes land on Jeff’s computer and the still open program.
Ash tilts his head curiously and walks over to take a closer look, the little boy climbs up onto Jeff’s chair and pulls himself closer to the desk. “Is this some kind of new game,” Ash asks himself out loud, “sure looks like it, and it kinda looks interesting”. The 4-year-old reaches out and grabs the mouse, then moves it towards a tab and when he clicks on it his eyes widen when a 3D model of Jeff appears on the right side and some weird words on the left side of the screen. At four, Ash isn’t yet experienced enough to put sense into the words, most of them don’t make any sense to him, like “sexual orientation”, “relationship status”, “awareness”, while others like “name”, “age”, kind of make sense.
The four-year-old’s curiosity simply increases as he continues to click through the tabs, which causes him to accidentally activate the scanner, the computer gives off a “ping” and a message appears, “new target scanned! File as been saved,” it reads.
“Hu? What does that mean,” Ash asks himself, the word “file” in the message sounds familiar to the boy, his eyes start to scan the tabs, “ah, here,” he says when he finds a tab with the same word and clicks on it. Ash tilts his head when he notices that next to a file with the name “Jeff” written below it, a second file with “Ash” below it can be seen.
Curiously Ash clicks his file and his eyes widen when he sees a 3D-model of himself on the right side of the screen and on the left side of the screen he again sees some weird words. “Does this mean I can start my own game,” the boy asks himself, “though I kinda am curious to see how Jeff would look like with a tail, or as a girl… maybe even in my age. I think I know what kinda game this is, I’ve seen something similar, I think it was when I was at Tony’s house a week ago. Tony’s big brother had some similar game and I kinda notice him giving his… whatever that image of Jeff and me is, a tail and it kinda looked funny”.
Ash smiles, he then giggles, “I think I’d look super cute with a doggy tail,” he says to himself, “but Jeff would look so funny as a girl. I feel kinda excited and giddy, I dunno if I should try something with my game or with Jeff’s… I don’t wanna mess up his game, so I’d need to be careful”.
As he tries to decide which “game” he should play, the 4-year-old notices something, his head tilts, “search target”, a tab says, “can I create another game? Maybe that would be better, kinda like a “test-game”. I could name it after my daddy or mommy,” Ash mumbles to himself, “hm… ya... that would be better, just to see what would happen”.
Ash decides to enter his dad’s name, which is “Mark Davis” and soon a new file appears with his dad’s name. The 4-year-old smiles, before opening the file, “what shall I do with dad’s game,” he asks himself, as he thinks he notices a button, “random alteration”, it says, curiously Ash clicks on the field and a message pops up, “searching for suitable alteration,” it says, “random suitable alteration found: mind alteration! Alteration suggestion: believes youngest son to be his wife! Do you accept this alteration or do you wish for a alternate search?”
Ash tries to make sense of the message but is unable to, the 4-year-old shrugs, and decides to simply accept it. The 4-year-old is unaware of what he had done, the alteration will cause his dad, whenever his wife Maria Davis isn’t around, to think Ash is Maria, not wondering why his “wife” looks different, and when Maria is around, the Mark will stop thinking Ash being Maria. However, Mark will never notice the mental switch in his mind “flick”.
Unaware of what he had done, Ash decides to try something with his or Jeff’s “game”, the 4-year-old taps his chin, trying to decide which “game” would be best and more fun.
