Marcia Caldwell kept talking with Christine Atwell for a while. The woman seemed pretty convinced that something unnatural was affecting her son and she was very worried that it could be dangerous or lethal. “Maybe someone gave a new drug to my son that made him taller!” The woman said. “Maybe is poisonous or my son will become addicted to drugs!!”
“Calm down, mrs. Atwell.” Marcia told her while she took a sip of her coffee. “There's no drug that can do something like that.” She took another sip. “And, if it exists, why do you come looking for my help? Police could be a better choice for those kind of problems. I'm more experienced with paranormal stuff like ghosts or cursed items.” Christine didn't answer.
After a few minutes, Christine left the building. Marcia had accepted to take the case but she wasn't very enthusiastic. She could give it some hours during her free time, perhaps. She was thinking about it when Rusty opened the door with another woman following from behind. He introduced her as mrs. Amanda Flaversham and she immediately took a seat.
To Marcia's surprise, mrs. Flaversham came for the very same reason that Christine. She was worried because she thinks her son had grown several inches overnight. At first, Marcia thought they were just pranking her, but her psychic power made her think that the woman was actually telling the truth. She doesn't believe in coincidences like that, so she started to look for clues in Amanda's words.
She found several similarities between Christine's son and Amanda's one. They were the same age, formerly pretty small and underdeveloped even for their age and they apparently grew several inches taller the same night. She was taking notes while mrs. Flaversham kept talking, until the woman said something very interesting, both boys go to the same school.
“Thank you for the details, mrs. Flaversham. I'm going to start my investigation right now.” Marcia told Amanda while they stand up. “I think I'm going to start with that school. If you spend that evening with your son and you didn't see him doing something unusual, it seems something happened when you wasn't close to him, at school!”
Mrs. Flaversham left Marcia's office and the detective immediately took her coat, her bag and her car keys. “Rusty, I will be back in two hours.” She took the last sip of her coffee. “Something is happening at the that school and I will find out what it is!” She left so fast that she slammed the door and the empty cup of coffee fell down. Rusty just sighed.
