“Enjoying the perks of magick, are we new sister?” Emily’s ears perked up in attention to the sound of a familiar voice coming from the other side of the changing room wall. She cracked the door open to see the familiar silhouette of the shop owner. She was just recognizable through the crimson skin, curling ram horns, glowing golden eyes and cloven feet. A pair of dramatic bat wings and a swishing spade tail instantly betrayed her fiendish nature. A single beauty mark on the side of her lip framed a maturely sexy face, and her dark red hair trailed behind her in a long braid. Her dressing in a regular shop clerk’s outfit made for a jarring if attention grabbing contrast.
“I feel so alive, I can see things invisible that were always right under my nose. It’s like I’ve been walking around half asleep, and only now I’m truly awake.” Emily nodded, accepting the demon-woman’s words at face value. “Could you explain how we’re sisters though? Our appearances are clearly far apart, our powers are very different.”
“We might be born from different fonts of magick, but we’re both sorceresses, dyed in the wool. Blessed to be among the few who wield the leylines charging through the earth, winds, and seas of our world.” The shop owner looked to the dragon woman with a stern gaze. “Your powers come with but one mandate young sister. You must act in all your dealings to preserve, sustain, and repair the leylines which bequeath our spells and bodies. Otherwise, you may pursue any life or goals you choose with your extended lifespan. You will uphold this sacred pact, I trust?”
“Oh of course! A small obligation in the face of such a great gift.” Emily said. “One last question, though?”
“Name it my dear.” The shopkeep bade her speak.
“The dress that changed me into this- do you have any more? My dear Sam, I don’t know that I can imagine shouldering the weight of the future alone.” Emily pleaded.
“A dress? No- but I have charms and relics galore that will do the same. Take the one you feel speaks best to the soul of your beloved- free of charge of course, call it a favor to one of the order.”
Emily strode forward to peruse the demon’s offerings.
