Leah knew one thing for sure: she needed a diapee. She was still too little to go poopy in the potty, especially on her own. She should get a diapee before she went in her training pants and made a mess. Still sucking her thumb, she headed for the diaper aisle. To her surprise, Tina was there. Some part of her felt like she should be embarrassed to have Tina see her like this. But it took her a second to figure out why.
It had to be because Tina knew Leah wasn't ready for training pants yet! Tina knew Leah still needed diapees.
Deciding that Tina could help her get into a diapee, Leah hurried up to her.
"Tina, I need a diapee," she said, trying to sound as big girl as she could. Tina stared at her for a few moments before sighing.
"Did you have an accident and need new clothes?" she asked. Leah nodded. "I should have told you to go potty before we left. Well, at least you found something to wear. And you're being so mature and responsible, telling me you need protection!"
Leah felt her knees bend into a slight squat. Luckily, it was just for pee. Leah peed her training pants and sucked her thumb as Tina grabbed some diapers for her. Then Tina hurried her to the bathroom, where she put Leah into a diaper.
"Fank oo," Leah lisped. Tina seemed delighted.
"You're welcome! I have to say, I'm greatly enjoying your behavior today, Leah." Tina put Leah into the seat of the shopping cart, the perfect spot for a three year old, and they resumed shopping.
Leah smiled around her thumb. Again, some part of her felt weird that Tina liked her like this. And that Tina didn't notice anything was different about her. After all, wasn't she a big girl before?
But then Leah's tummy rumbled, and she started to push a poopy into her diapee, and she stopped thinking about that, focusing on pooping. Tina looked over at the grunts coming from Leah and chuckled.
"Watching toddlers use their diapers like they love to is so cute. It's still cute, Leah, even at your age. It helps that you're finally recognizing that you need to improve your potty training."
Leah sucked on her thumb. As a log began to crown, a new trigger had kicked in for her, based on what Tina said.
