Leah entered the high school, then turned down a hallway and kept walking. When she saw the door with the brightly colored sign, she ducked into the closest bathroom. Her best friend Tonya was waiting for her.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Tonya asked. Leah went into a stall and began to change out of her high school inform into a preschool one.
"I won't know until I try," she said. Tonya huffed. "Look, if this doesn't work out, I'll just rejoin the high school. I hacked into the system to change my enrollment to preschool. I can do the reverse easy peasy."
"I guess..." Tonya sighed. Leah emerged from the stall. Tonya whistled. "Wow. You do not look like a high school student at all."
"Exactly. That's why I have to try this. If there's even a chance I'm meant for preschool, not high school..."
"I get it, I get it." Tonya sighed. "Let's get you checked in."
Leah took Tonya's hand and the two left the bathroom. They walked up to the door with the brightly colored sign and pushed it open. Then they were in the preschool. There were a few rooms in the preschool, but Tonya walked Leah right up to the front desk.
"Hi, my niece Leah is ready to check in," Tonya said. The worker smiled at Tonya as she checked Leah in. Tonya turned to Leah. "Be a good girl." Leah nodded. Tonya crouched to hug Leah. "Call or text if you need anything," she whispered in Leah's ear.
"You got it," Leah whispered back.
Tonya left. Leah looked around, ready for her first day of preschool.
