Jamie looked up at him, her chubby cheeks puffed out as she tried her best to look serious. She clutched a plush bunny in one hand, the pacifier still in her mouth, and her brows furrowed as she thought about her request. "I wan' a playmate!" she said, her voice a little muffled by the pacifier but still clear enough.
"A playmate?" Jeff asked, surprised but amused. "Do you want me to play with you, or...?" He trailed off, unsure of what she meant exactly.
Jamie shook her head, her face lighting up with enthusiasm. "No, I wan' 'nother widdle girl! Like me!" she said, pointing to herself with a giggle, her tiny hand barely reaching her chest.
Jeff tried to think if he knew anyone who could fill that role. And then he remembered something. His friend Grace had a younger sister, and she was around the same age as Jamie was now.
"Hold on, I think I know someone. Grace, my friend, has a little sister named Amy who's the same age as you. Maybe she could be your playmate," Jeff told his mother.
Jamie’s eyes widened with pure joy, her pacifier falling from her mouth as she clapped her hands together. "YAY! Pwease, Jeff!" she squealed, her voice high-pitched with excitement.
Jeff chuckled at her reaction. "Alright, calm down, I'll make it happen," he said, looking at her with a mix of amusement and affection. "But now, do you want to spend time at Grace’s house, or would you rather have Grace and her sister come over here?"
Jamie thought for a moment, her little face scrunching up as she considered the options.
