Your throat and tongue are burning like they are on fire. At first, you wonder if maybe someone poisoned you. Are you going to die in this little carriage, is that why they trundled you out of the castle? You roll back and forth on the floor of the carriage, trying to convince your body to vomit up whatever poison you may have ingested, but it just seems to make your throat feel hotter. Finally, you can't stand it any more. You face towards the front of the carriage, open your mouth, and let out...a belch?
But not just any old belch. This one is a straight-up fireball that burns a hole directly through the front of the carriage despite the spell and hits the ground behind the horses, spooking them into a mad gallop. You are too stupefied by what just happened to immediately register what is going on, but the shouts of your escorts fade away as you see the road flying by through the hole you just burned.
Yes, you burned it. Somehow, you breathed fire. Despite the shaking of the carriage, you reach up to feel you mouth, which appears to be fine, although your lips are slightly burned from the heat. Finally coming to your senses, you realize this might be your chance to escape. Given the erratic way the carriage is bouncing around, you doubt the driver is still aboard, and you haven't heard any knights or the wizard. If you can breathe -- well, belch -- flame a few more times, you might be able to create a big enough hole for you to crawl out of and grab the reins.
However, just as you were trying to remember how you felt when you belched fire, you hear the horses scream as gravity disappears. But only for a second. Then you, the carriage, and the horses go falling off the side of the cliff, and all you can see through the hole in the carriage are rocks and sky. You know you are becoming a dragon, but you aren't a dragon yet. Could you survive this?
