Jordan guessed what her problem was as soon as no change happened. She checked her crotch and saw a bit of bleeding "Bugger! I'm menstruating!"
"What's that got to do with anything? How come you didn't change?"
"It's one of the rules of this damn medallion! It won't work if a woman is on her period. I'll be stuck as Samantha for 5 to 6 days!"
Slowly it dawned on Sam that she could be in the same predicament "Oh fuck! I just got that same body? Does that mean I'll be stuck like this as well?" She immediately looked at her own groin. There was no sign of blood.
"You used the bra I threw at you earlier did you?"
"Yes"
"It's the same bra I used to change into 'Samantha' last night. You might just be in luck.... or you might not"
"What does that mean?" Sam was worried.
"I wasn't bleeding last night. At least not when I arrived back here at about 2 am. But I am now. It looks to have only just started. Just spots on my panties. No real flow yet"
Sam didn't understand the point. She just looked at her twin with a questioning look on her face.
"I changed into Samantha at about 6 last night. It all depends on when this spotting started. It's 8 am now, 14 hours after my change. I possibly could have have changed if I had tried to do so 2 hours ago"
Sam finally 'Got it'. "So I need to change back as soon as my 12 hours are up?"
"There is no guarantee. My period might have started anytime after 2 am. If it started before 6 am you're screwed"
"And there is no way you can tell?"
"Not really. It seems like it has only just begun, but that is just going by my own experience of periods. I have no idea about how this woman's periods proceed"
"Bloody hell!"
"That's one way of describing a period. But look... There is no point worrying about something you can't change. All you can do is try the medallion in 12 hours. If it works.... Great. If not, we will have to be twins for the next week. Have you got much on?"
Sam thought for a few seconds "Not really. Nothing I couldn't reschedule"
"Well it's no big deal then. We could take a unit by the beach. My treat as I sort of caused this problem"
Sam's opinion was that this was a big deal but she stayed silent. Ranting at or berating Jordan wouldn't change anything. At least she had acknowledged that she had caused the problem "So I guess you still want me to go in and sign that contract"
"I guess so. I'll choose an outfit and help with your makeup. Just make apologies for me. Tell them I'm not feeling well. We had better hurry. They are expecting us at 9.30"
