His eyes almost glowing with the prospect of all the new potentials, and he begins to scroll through all of the options in an attempt to familiarise himself with the controls. Twiddling through the various menus and settings, it slowly dawns on him the God-like power he grasps in his hand.
Then he hears the front door opening, and in walks his mother looking slightly weary. Jumping at her sudden appearance, Justin quickly hides the device behind his back and hopes silently that she did not see it. The discarded box should be a dead giveaway, but if he was lucky, she'd think it was simply discarded rubbish.
"Hey mum. How was your day?" asked Justin.
"Oh, fine thanks. How was yours?" she asked, though, without waiting for an answer, she strolled into the kitchen.
Justin took this opportunity to sprint upstairs to his bedroom, where he closed the door behind him, pulled the curtains, and once more resumed his state of peaked curiosity. Returning to the main menu, he saw a small human shape with a two in it, that when pressed showed that there were now two people in close enough proximity to change. Himself and his mother.
Without further prompting or any provocation the screen asked whether he would like to continue, and not being certain of what it means, he simply chooses yes.
The screen flashes to life.
"-Transformation Options-"
1. Manual
2. Automatic
Again Justin's lack of familiarity causes him to take what he supposes is the easiest option, and he settles for number two, a feeling of unease growing inside him.
"-Automatic Change Beginning-," the screen flashes.
"...what?" Justin asks, panicked.
But the change has begun.
