As the Great Fusion Wave continued to flash the world with its aura of incomprehensible weirdness, there were people like Barbara.
Barbara Seids is a woman who is like what she calls 'the sad bunch.' Thirty-eight, not married, living in a shitty one-bedroom apartment with a shitty job at a retail store. Barbara used to believe in the hopes of a young dream. Being attractive and attentive, living as a housewife to some rich hot man, getting all the time and love a woman could dream of. But as many stories go, Barbara would look decently good, with her fashion and make-up looks, but she was never enough for a sweet and handsome millionaire. She has seen some eyes peek, but they were never perfect for her needs. And eventually, she lost all of her physique.
What is the most worked aspect of her life, Barbara went through a lot of physical work to have a body as hit as hers. Pretty face, reasonable five-foot-six height, slender arms and hands, curvy belly, fatty ass and thighs with complimentary calves and dainty feet. But as Barbara aged, her stature was only getting more and more complicated to maintain. Now her body went all saggy and fat, with boobs of pure fat and a body type of a pear. Barbara still has some of her good genetics, her beautiful dark brown hair, her nice shade of tanned skin, and her emerald green eyes, but those are only the best she got within her 'sad bunch' body.
Working as a manager for The Party Shack, a big retail store with party supplies, Barbara can only sigh from her lost dreams. But as she started to accept her life over the past few years, she at least started to enjoy what she had of herself. She even got her first boyfriend recently. Martin Hooves, a higher-up management worker for a law firm whose looks could be tweaked some, but Barbara was excited to work on him to look more handsome and hot for her. Barbara still had something left for her, and if she could be attractive and attentive to one whose less rich and beautiful, then she could at least get what best she could out of her lifelong dream.
Barbara got to her work early in the morning, about five-thirty on the mid-late moon for Florida, and started to do opening tasks. As per her customary, she left her phone on Do Not Disturb while in the office, which would make her miss the warning notification made by the government for the Great Fusion Wave. Barbara has gotten the first tasks in a timely order and now has to deal with one of the more tedious tasks, to prepare the balloons for the day around the store. Starting with the regulars before the more designed ones, Barbara prepared the helium tank to start blowing up the balloons fast. She started to feel some heat coming through the store, but Barbara only excused the glorious sun Florida consumes like crazy showing up earlier than usual. As she fully got three regular balloons, all filled and tied up with complimentary-colored ribbons, Barbara grabbed the fourth balloon out of the eight she needed to make, and had its neck and lip in between her left index finger and thumb. Before being able to insert its lip and neck into the helium tank, Barbara lost her conscious to even stand due to the sudden extreme heat, and before she knew it, the heat turned as intense as an exploding star. And everything turned dark.
After what seemed like a while, Barbara slowly opened up her eyes, and she already was feeling different. Her skin felt completely alien like it wasn't even her skin. She got herself up and standing, and noticed a few things. Firstly, her skin, once flappy with noticeable wrinkles, appeared to be a lot more condensed with absolute zero wrinkles, like in her early-mid thirties. Second, it appears her current skin is a lot more stretchy and rubbery, feeling pseudo-latex to her. Most noticeably to Barbara, she has what appears to be the lip and some of the neck of a balloon on the center of her left palm, slightly darker than her tan-colored skin and untied. She could only stare with all the anxiety and fear at her left palm for a fleeting moment, before remembering her phone was still in the office. Barbara starts walking over to the office room, and she immediately feels way lighter than her one-hundred-seventy-five-pound body usually is. Getting over to the office and picking up her phone, Barbara starts reading the warning she made the poor mistake of missing. 'Great Fusion Wave: Coming through the Eastern side of the Americas around 6:00 AM to 6:30 AM. Prepare to lock and stay inside your homes, within a small space with no nearby items, animals, or humans for maximum safety of no fusion.' Barbara sighed very deeply, realizing she would have been the only person in this workplace to not get this notification since the next worker didn't have to come until seven. Barbara dismissed the warning and saw the time was currently one-thirty in the afternoon. Barbara freaked out, realizing she had been passed out for hours, and now seeing many messages from her colleagues. Barbara took a minute to take deep breaths, knowing she was going to have to deal with a lot. After a minute of composure, Barbara picks up her phone and tries to call someone to tell about her events.
