Once he was settled on his dorm room bed, he began to ponder what could possibly be his next wish. The potential was infinite, but so was the risk. One wrong wish could have disastrous results. He knew his first wish to change his name had worked perfectly, so he started thinking on the possibilities. Bob wasn't exactly a dull name or unattractive. His parents had chosen it simply because it was classic and timeless. They liked a plain, no frills approach when they had pick their child's name. When Drake thought of names, he imagined in his mind pictures of sports stars and politicians. He figured Bob was probably safe enough; except for perhaps being very common. But, now that he was given the opportunity to change it, he decided that he would go big or go home.
Wish #2, Drake thought to himself, is going to be something special. A wish that will really mean something to me. Wish #2: Drake would sketch out the body he's always wanted to have and show it to the djinn.
He pulled off his t-shirt and placed it on his desk along with his sketchbook and pencil. After a few minutes of sketching, Drake got an idea how he envisioned his perfect physique. Once complete, Drake put down the pencil, picked up the shirt and looked around until he found the lamp, sitting on the floor where Beldazarr had disappeared after their first exchange. "Beldazarr! are you there?" Drake called out.
After several seconds nothing happened, so Drake began to think about just putting his shirt back on, as Beldazarr might not have come through this time. Just then, however, there was some movement in the corner of the room near the window. Drake turned quickly to see if someone else was in his room. To his surprise, there stood Beldazarr wearing the same red silk cloak from before. The djinn was dressed much more casually than last time though. He was also carrying what appeared to be a cigar box.
"You summoned me again, my master," said Beldazarr with a slight smile coming over him. As usual for a djinn, he spoke in English but with an Arabic accent, although strangely enough, Drake could understand everything perfectly fine.
"Ah, yes... I've changed my mind slightly," Drake started, "I want to look like this." Drake held up the sketch.
Beldazarr nodded and took the paper from Drake's hand, opened the cigar box and took out a small crystal. "This is my wishing stone," he explained, as he touched the crystal to the drawing. "It focuses the wish and makes it real."
The crystal glowed softly for a moment, then all at once Drake felt a sensation similar to when he had wished for a new name, but this time it was stronger and more intense. It seemed to be spreading across his entire body, redefining his muscle structure, reshaping his organs and skin, and altering even his bone structure.
As the transformation continued, the sensation grew more intense and Drake couldn't help but gasp with wonder. The feeling was unlike anything he had ever experienced before. When the sensation finally subsided, Drake looked down at himself in horror - the wish had backfired!
His body, though heavily muscled and toned as he wished, was also comprised entirely of pencil marks, shading, and eraser smudges! His bed, which sat on a four-poster bed frame was covered in the same marks. Even his t-shirt he had tossed aside before sketching his wish were now made up of the same markings. All that was left of his real clothes and body were faint crossed guidelines where his face had been and the outline of his hands, feet, and other extremities.
"I hope you don't mean to tell me that you plan to live out the rest of your life sketched into non-existence," said Beldazarr as he, too, examined the strange sight before him.
"No... no... that can't be the effect of the wish," Drake said, panic running through his veins now. "I only wanted to look like this!" He pointed to the sketch again.
"Then we have a problem," the djinn replied, "You wished specifically to look like that drawing, not any more or less. Do you want me to take the wishing stone so that you can make another attempt?"
"Yes, please," Drake exclaimed, "but wait, I need to think about this..."
