Older merman hunting for love

added by Anonymous 7 days ago BM S O Mythological Aquatic

Hemi was among the oldest merman’s who under law were allowed to journey out to find a mate among the humans. He was nearing in late 30’s when it came to merman years and the cut off age for that according to the Priest and Priestess was 40. It wasn’t that they didn’t believe that a merman or mermaid couldn’t find love after 40 but because the main goal of this was to bring in new blood lines to increase the gene pool of the merfolk tribes.

Hemi had been to the human world before; he had failed two times in the past so this would be his last chance. He found a small hidden area among a pier which shot out into the ocean to transform into a human for a few hours.

He stepped out into the human world, a large man a very large man but far from fat. His bulk was all muscles. To a human he looked like a man who could crush someone with ease but yet he gave off a calm and gentle air around him. He wasn’t lean like some merman, but he had power and that was on full display. His skin tone and tattoos screamed Hawaiian to most people and considering his tribe of merfolk had once called the oceans around those islands home it made sense.

A small necklace around his neck containing a shark tooth among other magical charms kept him in human form and hopefully would guild him to a mate. He walked down the beach hoping the necklace would pull him toward a mate. Even if the necklace did pull him toward a mate he may be unlucky.

Whenever an older mermaid or merman was sent out to find a possible mate it required more special care than sending a younger merfolk out to find a mate. When an older merfolk went out to find a mate among human of their pier group their was a much higher risk that the human may already have a kid or kids or could already have a mate.

In cases that, by law all humans had to be selected by the magic. He could find a mate, but if that mate had kids, he would also require that the same pull of magic he has for the mate happens with the kids. No priestess or priest would destroy a human family, that is why finding a mate when older was so harder for merfolk. He would need to be lucky on multiple fronts but it wasn’t impossible and when it did happen it brought many new members to the tribe which was always joyful for everyone.

Hemi stopped as he felt his necklace begin to pull, he followed it.

What does he find?
