"When you pointed out that if something happened to both Lisa and me, that no one else would have the power to fix the problem, that got me thinking," Ty said to June. "Obviously we're trying to avoid any situation where it would be necessary, but I gave Lisa the power to always be able to restore me to human form. What if I gave you that power also? Maybe for Lisa, too, but she'd have to give permission for that."
"Wow," said June. "That's a heavy responsibility. If you did that, it wouldn't cause you to become more reckless, would it?"
"No," replied Ty. "It would just be a last resort. Hopefully you'd never need it. Though if you accept, we should test it."
"And would you do the same for Mark?"
Ty thought for amoment. "I'm not opposed to it, but I think it would worry him unnecessarily if we suggested it to him. I mean, we'd have to explain to him why it's even a concern. So far, only you know that. I mean, I assume you haven't told him about our little... problem..."
"No, I haven't," June said. "And as you say, mostly to keep him from being worried. And to save you and Lisa from possible embarrassment."
"What about Lisa's parents? Should they also be able to do this?" June asked.
"Yes, if Lisa wants it, and they agree," Ty replied.
"Well, you've given me a lot to think about," June said. "I'm inclined to say yes, as there isn't any obvious drawback, but I don't want to jump into this without serious consideration. I wish there was someone else I could discuss it with."
"Sorry," said Ty. "I don't mean to pressure you, or raise your anxiety. In fact, I was trying to do the opposite."
"I understand," said June. "And I appreciate your intent. Just let me think about it for a while."
"Sure," said Ty. "Take all the time you need."
June and Ty left his room, closing the door, while Lisa continued, as an app on her phone, to do her homework.
