When Ty got downstairs, he found Lisa and June at the kitchen table. "May I join you?"
"Please do," Lisa said, and Ty sat down. Lisa and June continued chatting about nothing and everything, with Ty occasionally contributing.
A few minutes later, Mark joined them. " I just got off the phone with Diego," he said.
"How did that go?" asked June, and Lisa and Ty were eager to know as well.
"I hope you don't mind," Mark said, "but I explained to him a little bit of our family history and how Ty revealed his powers to us. Of course, I left out a few details."
"Oh, no," said Ty, eyes downcast.
"No, no," Mark said to him. "I focused on the positive side of everything. How you had every right to be angry with us, and could have done things we couldn't even imagine, in order to get revenge, but how you didn't hurt us, you did the least possible thing to get us to talk calmly, and how what you wanted was just for us to be a better family. And how we have!"
"Well, OK." Ty said, somewhat mollified. "How did he take it?"
"He was quite concerned at first," Mark said. "But by the end, I think he understood."
"That's fine," said Lisa, "but it's a good thing you didn't tell the story to Maria."
"Yes, Diego and I realize that," Mark replied.
"What would you all like to do?" June asked.
"Would anyone like to play games?" Mark suggested.
They played a few games of Settlers of Catan, before Lisa and Ty begged off.
"Dinner will be at 6:30," June said.
Once they were back in Ty's bedroom, he asked her, "What would you like to do now?"
"Make love, of course! Do you even need to ask? But I do want to do one other thing first."
"Oh? What's that?" Ty asked.
"Well," Lisa said, "you remember how you promised to remove your wish any time I wanted?"
"Yes. Don't tell me you want that now? Are you breaking up with me? Is this about Maria?" Ty was suddenly extremely worried!
"No! Absolutely not!" she reassured him, and hugged him. "You know, you gave me the ability to undo and redo changes you've made to me. I've occasionally thought about the wish, and that maybe I could undo that if I tried. But I'm afraid to do that on my own. You said that you hoped that someday the wish might no longer be necessary. I hope so to, and I want to know if today is someday."
Ty considered. "If you're sure you want me to remove it, then of course I will. But what if, out from the influence of the wish, you don't love me, and don't want the wish?"
Lisa said, "You have my consent to put the wish back if that happens."
She was surprised that Ty wasn't happy about that.
"It doesn't work like that," he explained sadly. "With regards to the wish, it is _this_ you that is non compos mentis. Only the you that is NOT under the compulsion can freely decide whether she wants it."
"You're right, of course," she said. "But the previous time, she, I mean, I, wanted the wish back. If she still isn't in love with you, she'll still want the wish."
"I'm not as certain. But it's up to you to make the decision about my removing the wish, because we can't ask her without doing it."
"I'm a bit frightened," Lisa said, "but I want you to do it." She kissed him.
Ty said aloud, "I wish to cancel the compulsion to love me that I previously wished onto Lisa."
Ty watched Lisa carefully, but didn't see any change. "Did it work?" she asked, and kissed him again.
"Um... I think so..." he replied, and she kept kissing him. She paused to say, "Excellent!" She pushed him to the bed.
