Sam found herself waiting in a small room as Jordan was taken into a different room, assumably to be interviewed. All she could do was ponder the scary situation she found herself in. She feared the worst. How could Jordan possibly prove that she was who she claimed to be? For that matter how could she, Sam Colson, whilst wearing a denim skirt and spaghetti top borrowed from Jordan, claim to be the male Sam Colson. The police would not believe her. The thought of being incarcerated in a female prison wasn't a happy one
At least a different female police officer provided Sam with the sanitary pads that had been in her handbag, significantly not the handbag itself. Sam hurriedly found a toilet and did what she needed to do.
Another half hour later a male officer came into the room and ominously closed the door. He introduced himself as some sort of detective, although Sam almost immediately forgot the name. He asked Sam to take a seat at the table then quickly came to the point. “So you claim to be Sam Coulson?”
Sam replied without thinking “Yes, that’s me” before seeing the look of triumph in the detective’s eyes.
“I’m placing you under arrest on a charge of identity theft. You have the right to remain silent……” the man went through the standard statement. When he had finished he asked “Would you care to explain how you got hold of Sam Colson’s licence, and wallet. You are clearly not the same Sam Colson on the licence”
Sam was about to plead that she was, but then thought better of it “I’d like to get a lawyer”
It was another hour before a lawyer turned up, appointed by a local magistrate evidently. He was probably past retirement age and walked with a cane. “Hello Miss Colson. My name is Bruce McMillan and I have been allocated your case. You have been charged with identity theft and I know the police are investigating the apparent disappearance of the man whose identity they claim you have stolen. They are currently trying to establish the whereabouts of Mr Colson and suspect foul play. You could be in serious trouble”
“Are you also acting for Jordan?”
“Do you mean your twin sister Emma? She finally admitted that was her name. Yes. I have been appointed her lawyer as well”
“Can I speak with Jordan, I mean Emma”
“I don’t think that is possible at the moment. I have just left her. She was to be taken to the watch house to be held there overnight”
Sam hung her head in depression
“So can you tell me what your real name is? I am acting on your behalf and anything you tell me will be treated as confidential”
“Sam Colson is my real name” Sam decided to come clean “I really am the man on that licence. I live at xxxxx xxxxx. I only look like this as Jordan changed me with a magic medallion”
“Miss Colson. Please forgive me if a show a bit of skepticism”
“No it’s true. The medallion is in Jordan’s handbag. It’s called the medallion of Zollo or something like that. You touch it to clothing and it turns you into the form of whoever last wore that clothing”
