Simply put, Sandra Fredericks was done.
Done with dealing with the stigma of being a single mother.
Done with the struggle of providing for college aged children who all still lived at home.
Done with those children all being unproductive losers just like her.
Done with trying to find a man.
But, luckily for her at least, the east Pacific island of Akiki had a complimentary problem: they needed breeders. Their population’s median age was dangerously high and their younger generations were simply not breeding.
So the offer had gone out and Sandra had accepted on behalf of her entire family. It had taken much convincing and putting her foot down, but now here they were in the very well appointed welcoming facility that served as the portal to the Gender Wing’s famous onsen area, known for being an exact replica of the best Japanese ones down to the imported woods and rocks.
None of them were 100% on board with the idea, not even Sandra, but this did represent the opportunity for a second chance at life for all of them in a new place and new body. The worst part was that they would be broken up afterwards in order to go where they would serve best, but a broken up family was better than a family that had seemed doomed to a slow decay. Besides, they were being compensated by Akiki’s government, very well compensated.
Conscious that these would be the last hours she would ever see her children as she knew them and the last days they would all be together, Sandra was now fighting back her own fear as she tried to calm their fears before they were admitted into the onsen….
