While Monica was gone getting Damon's next meal, her cat entered the room, slinking to stare at the new piece of furniture that had come into her territory. Delilah the black cat stared at the terrarium, pondering what this thing could be. She jumped with agility onto the large desk and stared at the inside. Damon looked at the black cat, his yellow eyes meeting hers. Yellow meeting yellow. Both looked curiously at the other, though more thoughts occurred in Damon's skull. But he was not afraid. The terrarium was a good one, solid, with thick glass and Monica must have thought about all that her cat could do. Or at least he hoped so.
Struck by a wicked thought, he bounced against the glass suddenly and startled by the sudden movement, Delilah jumped away. Damon would have smiled if he could have. Ah! Not so much as an impressive big cat now! More like a scaredy cat! Too bad he could not splash water at the black cat, in fact! But Delilah recovered from her bout of fright rather quickly and jumped atop the terrarium, sniffing the lid. It was sealed solidly shut so no danger was present. But Delilah could slip her paw into the terrarium. Not enough to reach the toad inside, but almost. Damon squirted water from his mouth and he hit the paw of the animal, which retreated it quickly, frightened and darting away. Ah! Hilarious! Damon hopped in joy at his little prank. Maybe being a toad would not be boring!
