Lucy answered the door and greeted Tanya with, "Hey," and as her friend returned the greeting, she opened the door further to allow the other girl to enter.
Dropping her overnight bag to the floor, Tanya kicked off her shoes. As she did this, she inquired, "We still ordering pizza tonight?" to which Lucy nodded, then furthered, "I'm going to raid my brother's collection of movies, as he has a better selection than what's available in the tv room," as she led the way out of the front hall.
"Won't he mind?" Tanya asked as she collected her bag and followed after.
A shrug in response and Lucy commented, "Don't think it matters. I think I saw him and Alan leaving out the back door," and heading toward her room, she listened as Tanya offered a suggestion of movie she ought to see if her brother had, agreed, then headed for Jeff's room as Tanya headed for her room to leave her bag. Entering the teen boy's room, Lucy noticed Jeff had left his computer running, but not caring, she instead picked through the movies he'd left stacked on his desk. Seeing a disk marked "Chronivac" Lucy wondered what it, thought it might be one of the computer games Jeff and Alan were always playing, and after mulling it over, made a selection of movies, as well as took the Chronivac disk, plus the remote.
Out in the hall, Lucy pulled shut her brother's door and was about to head to her room, but stopped when she suddenly came over dizzy. Wondering what was wrong with her, she shook her head. Unaware of reality morphing around her, how Jeff and Alan were being erased, the way the room she'd just come from went from the bedroom of a teen boy to a home office, Lucy at first couldn't figure out what it was she was doing. Head clearing, dizziness passing, she entered the office as if she'd planned to all along and headed for the computer.
Mind on other things, such as what everyone wanted on their pizza and how long Aunt Ginny would allow them to stay up and the two other girls Natalie and Diana said were coming with them, Lucy booted up the computer. Inserting the Chronivac disk, curious to know what it was, as her mind now insisted she'd found it sitting on the kitchen table sometime after her aunt arrived, she waited for it to install. Tanya wandering in after some time, and asking, "What's that?" Lucy shrugged and commented, "Don't know. I think it's something belonging to Aunt Ginny," as the screen blinked and a box popped up.
With a careless glance, Lucy speed-read through the information, and when she got to the point where it encouraged her to plug in the emitter and sync it, she did as instructed. Clicking through options, she heard a door open somewhere in the house, and thinking it was one of her other friends, she stopped what she was doing and stood. Tanya inquiring what the programme was, Lucy shook her head and said, "I'll explain in a moment," as she headed across the room and exited.
Greeting Diana and Natalie, the programme was temporarily forgotten as the three made introductions with Felicity and Jennifer. Afterward, they discussed their plans for the sleepover, including pizza and what movies to watch, then switched to discussions on whether they were still going to the indoor waterpark tomorrow and the cinema. As they talked over there plans, and got to know the two new girls, they headed for Lucy's bedroom, where each left their backpack, bag, or overnight bag. Next, they talked about sleeping arrangements, which already Natalie and Tanya had settled, as they'd brought sleeping bags. Going back and forth on the matter, with Lucy suggesting trying to find some of the camping stuff and all of them using sleeping bags, it was decided in the end Diana and Lucy would share the bed, whilst Felicity and Jennifer would share the pull-out bed on the sectional couch in the living room.
The matter settled, Lucy bid them to follow her as she exclaimed, "I wanna show you all something," and leading the way, she headed into the home office, explaining as went about the Chronivac.
Finished with what she was saying, the immediately response was stunned silence, followed by a chorus of girl's voices, each saying in their own way what they heard was impossible. Calling for silence, Lucy looked at each one in turn, then posed the question, "What if it could?" then, before any could answer, she added, "If it did, we could have something else we could together. Maybe not this weekend, but at a later time."
Again, there was silence as each girl thought in turn about the validity of a programme which claimed it could alter a person. Arms crossed her front, it was Natalie who spoke first, stating, "Why don't we find a way to test it first," which promptly led to another round of all of them talking at once.
In the end, the Lucy settled the matter by withdrawing from the conversation. As her current friends and the two new girls talked about it and tried to work how best to try the Chronivac in a safe way, Lucy scanned herself, then, after a giving it barely a second thought, scanned each one of the girls in the room. The instant she did this, she was greeted by a message telling her Felicity and Jennifer already had a profile created. Confused by this, wanting to know why, she put the matter to the back of her head, closed the dialogue box and pulled up her profile. Scrolling through it as fast as she could, she swapped her hair colour from its usually medium-to-light brown to a vibrant, pastel blue. Making sure the awareness was set for her and all the others in the room, she clicked the icon to initiate the changes.
The effect instantaneous as her scalp started to itch, her long, brown hair lightened and changed to the hue she'd selected. The moment this happened, all talk ceased. And as they all looked at Lucy, she smiled and commented, "I say this was a successful test. So, who wants to try it?"
