Chronivac Version 4.0

The ghost of an erased past

Leaning back in the chair, Jennifer's vision blurred and distorted, her senses growing numb. She felt as her very consciousness was being ripped away. The tool to fix it sitting two feet in front of her.

And yet, she did nothing. Except, no, she did do one thing. She smiled to herself. "S-So... my fears were correct..." She flinched at the voice, unfamiliar, yet all too familiar at the same time. Then, she chuckled a bit. "A-At least... at least I won't be lying to them..."

Closing her eyes, she was... not as scared as she was moments prior. She was peaceful, even. And she felt like she'd done the right thing. The feeling of the chair beneath her faded away, and so too did the short-lived feeling of wearing Jeff's clothes. She was left with nothingness.

...and yet, she still existed. It was dark, and she was alone, unable to feel anything at all. "...What..?" She quietly thought to herself. "Oh... I'm... not gone yet?" A momentary pause. "Is... this what I get? Continuing to exist, just... not?" She quietly laughed to herself. "Well, as long as the others are happy... I'm fine with this."

She felt as her consciousness was pieced back together, her memories coming back to her. Memories of a life she never truly lived... She didn't really want to think about that past, though it was the only thing she had. The only thing to keep her company, as she floats in some sort of limbo.

...Was she floating, actually? She wasn't sure where she was. She didn't even know if she existed enough to float anymore. And, she didn't know if it mattered, really. Because whether she was floating or not, it wouldn't change anything about her fate.

...A groan shook her from her thoughts, much to her confusion. "...Huh?" She attempted to turn in the direction of the groan, and was surprised to feel her hair brush against her back. "What's going..."

Cautiously, she attempted to open her eyes. While disoriented, she was shocked to find that she even could. But more importantly, she was shocked to see the office she knew disappearing, reforming itself into a bedroom... and the boy that room belonged to sitting in a chair in front of her.

"What the...? Is that...?" Jennifer looked around, seeing the room morph around her. But she also noticed she was higher than she should be. An oddity revealed when she looked down... noticing that she WAS floating, as speculated before. "Wait, am I a ghost..? Is this what being dead is like?"

She spotted Jeff recovering from his own disorientation, looking around. And when he looked right at her...

Can Jeff see Jennifer?
