The sun was just coming up when Jimmy woke. It took a minute to organize confused thoughts. What a weird dream! And so intense. Not that there had been any pain, but it had felt so real to him. He stood and stretched, then realized he could slip back into the tent undiscovered. So he snuck back as some of the Scouts were just waking up, and was able to slide back under his blanket before the other two woke up.
Duane rubbed his eyes and then stood, still groggy. But his eyes went wide when he saw Jimmy and he took a step back that almost put him on top of the just-waking Mike. Annoyance changed to amazement as he followed Duane's gaze to Jimmy, who sat up and frowned. "What? Did I drool or something?" Jimmy looked at his tent-mates and then back at himself. What was so weird? Nothing crawled on his green skin, and the leafy vines of his hair were messy, but had no weeds in them. Wait a minute. Jimmy looked at himself again and felt his head. Then he scrambled up and examined himself. Instead of skin, he appeared to have the smooth surface of a plant, green and healthy. His hair was really a mass of short stems, and though he had a mouth, there were no teeth in it. And--- he looked down again... where his legs joined was a blank area - no male parts at all. And when he felt behind, the smooth surface was unbroken by an anus.
What had happened to his underpants? Though the thought of covering his skin made him shudder. He remembered the dream, and realized it had not been his imagination. Squatting, he laid a hand on the blanket and sleeping bag he had used last night, and they both runed to grass that rooted in the ground. Delighted, he rose and grinned at his tent mates, who were still staring in disbelief. He reached out and drew them into a group hug that forced his arms apart. The tent ripped open at the top and Jimmy finally stepped back from two massive oak tree that looked to be a hundred years old, but had been two 12-year-old boys before. They would have awareness of trees eventually, but were confused for now. Jimmy touched each trunk and calmed the scared former humans so that they could relax and enjoy thier new lives.
But what about the others? No one had left their tent yet, and he realized that most would not understand his changes, or that he had turned two humans into trees. Then he smiled and raised his arms, getting taller and thicker as he joined the other two boys as a huge oak tree. His feet dug into the ground, becoming roots, while patches of grass shot out in all directions. As the green blades passed under tents, curious voices turned to frightened gasps, but quickly fell silent as tents, clothing, and everything else settled to the ground. It looked like undisturbed forest now, the once-empty clearing now filled with trees, bushes, and thick undergrowth. All of which had been boys moments before.
