Mike shook himslef and grinned as he pranced around on his horse legs. "I feel fantastic!" Then he remembered Ty's warning about saying in character. "Look, I'll go check out the town first. If the people there don't like elves or dragons, it's better to find out first."
Christine frowned. "What if they don't like centaurs?"
Shrugging, Mike started trotting for LavenGuard. "Then I'll leave. Not much a human can do against a big hulking centaur like me!"
Ty grinned, unseen by the others. The centaur was already getting a bit too big for his britches. Maybe Mike needed to learn a few things about centaurs the hard way. With a flick of his wrist, he was in the center of the busy village. It looked and smelled terrible - this was an authentic place, with horse dropping in the street, and people throwing buckets of piss and shit out of windows.
Mike showed up a few minutes later, his nose wrinkled in obvious disgust. Although most of the people stared at him, no one seemed to care about a centaur being in town. That was really easy to change. Ty concentrated a moment, and noted that the expressions on the people's faces had changed. Those that Mike could see smiled and waved at him, while those out of sight whispered and laughed nastily.
"Hail, centaur!" A large, beefy man in a leather apron and loincloth strode out of the town stable. "Welcome to our town."
Mike nodded and smiled, having seen only friendly faces. "Greetings, sir! I am an adventurer passing through in search of a quest. There are several members of my party waiting outside. Is your village open to all races? None of us are human."
The man grinned even more broadly. "But of course! We are always happy to see elves, satyrs, minotaurs, and others. But we have a special place for centaurs - your kind are quite important to us. And I must say that you are one of the finest specimens I have ver seen!"
Mike actually blushed slightly - not really in character, but Ty knew that he wouldn't be able to do that much longer. "I thank you for the compliment. Are there other centaurs here?"
The man nodded and gestured towards the stable. "Several of your kind are inside. I am sure they would love to see you. Our tavern is not really set up to serve those of your bulk."
Ty held his breath - this would be the test - was Mike enoug in character to do this right, or would he give in to his gaming curiosity?
