Ty felt he had gotten a bit lucky. His foot narrowly missed some gum some jerk spat in his way, and as Ty moved a bit too slowly the driver started the bus jerking it making Ty stumble till he accidentally fell into a seat. Ty grimaced as his butt felt sore and his back and backpack smooshed together creating an unpleasant sensation of lunch being squished, spines of books bending or breaking, and Ty's own spine reinforcing how mortal Ty's body was when he glanced to his side to see "Courtney?"
Ty was surprised to see his original step-sibling as the sisterly figure smiled and said "Wow, what a surprise. Just transferred in." Ty felt a little uncomfortable. He remembered Courtney wasn't the best or worst liar... She was lying somewhere, but it wasn't... obvious what was the lie. Was it the surprise part? Did she know Ty was around here and wanted to mess with him or something? Had she been around for awhile and just noticed Ty? Ty wondered if she was hurt if both were a lie and she knew Ty had been around, and had just been ignoring her for awhile... Courtney threw an arm over Ty's back and said "C'mon, I'm happy to see my lil bro again." Ty smiled at the human compassion, and the feeling of a soft and warm human touch instead of a quick and harsh one... and for a moment a certain part- The soft warm touch leaves as Courtney said "Woah, sorry if I'm making you a little... uncomfortable or something." There seemed to be some sort of act in her voice. The warmth and compassion weren't lies, but there was something calculating behind the words as well. Not malicious, but like she was trying to nudge things into a particular direction.
"Courtney?" Ty asked words filled more with a curiosity rather than a hesitance or questioning. Ty had faith in Courtney even after many years of being separated
Courtney smiled "Let's just go about our day. I'd like to see how things play out."
Ty frowned "Is something going on?" his question narrowing down on Courtney's oddness
"Not yet. Nothing bad is happening either. I just want to see today as it is." Courtney turned her head and was fully looking Ty in the eyes.
"Do you know?" Ty asked aware of his powers but having little control over them. Ty's fixation dragging the truth out of Courtney.
Courtney's eyes showed a bit of fear as she said "It's the start of the new cycle... and you've fixated on me too much."
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable Court, but-"
"No" Courtney said authoritatively "Do you feel the bus moving?"
Ty tried focusing on his surroundings, the vibrations through the seat but "No..." he looked through the window past Courtney and the world outside was blurry
Courtney sighed "You aren't in control enough... Guess I wasn't good enough at acting" she tried smiling
"What's happening?" Ty asked as his eyes were darting around as the classmates, driver, and reality were... smudged... facsimiles of reality.
"Your power kind of smudged everything you weren't paying attention to into a sort of... I'm not sure how to describe it." Courtney tried explaining "There isn't anything left in reality between you, me, existence, and your belief that we can somehow exist in this space." The blurring reality was smudging, not really turning into nothingness but not being anything either. "Eventually you could remake reality whole cloth, put existence back into existence, and not accidentally smudge everything away. But for now the best you can do is reset everything, wipe the board clean to the best of your abilities, but you and I not need to be truly reset do we?"
"What are you asking?"
"Reset the day, groundhog style. We still exist so we not need to be fully reset, brought back to our original positions but not have anything core tampered with. However... if you want better answers... allow me to have a bit of control, a bit of power, and then I can truly give you a good birthday for the first time in years." Courtney said her words dripping with a sweetness and compassion.
Ty wasn't sure exactly what he'd do, wanted to do, or could do. Anything, felt right but... Anything was anything and a bit too broad. Courtney's words... Ty wasn't sure if he wanted to believe her entirely, but... they dug into his subconscious, and he did yearn for something... Thus his power activated as he brought the two back to a reality where things other than the two of them existed, and Courtney's suggestions manifested.
