"The doctor asked me to do the routine stuff - you know give her her shots and chip her- before he examines her. Is that okay?" Brad asked. He could tell Kurt was ticked with him - he assumed it was because he got a veterinary student - assistant instead of the vet himself, but Brad told himself this stuff was routine and too important for the vet to bother with himself, but he didn't phrase it that way to Kurt.
"Well, okay. I guess if it's routine?" Kurt shrugged. He was wondering if breeding with a weredog was a bad idea. Still their kids should be great with Chad's and Kurt's DNA. He had thought about turning Chad into a werewolf instead of a dog, but with Chad's DNA, he'd end up as pack leader even if he were female, but as a dog - she would be more manageable. And wolves mated for life, but dogs well, they were dogs. Maybe after Chad was properly trained, Kurt could upgrade her to a wolf. Yeah, that's what he would do.
Brad finished giving Chad all her shots. She was a fine looking animal, but her behavior was weird - probably a rescue. She kept tapping with her paw. It reminded Brad of his kid brother Chad when he was 10 and in scouts, and had learned Morse Code. He was constantly tapping messages to Brad. But dogs didn't know Morse Code, so this dog had a nervous tick, Brad concluded. If he had only paid attention to the dots, and dashes Chad was tapping out...But he didn't.
"There I anesthetized her for the chip insertion, and she'll be ready for the doctor's endoscope," Brad explained after disposing of the needles, and opening a surgikit."
"You know what you're doing, right?" Kurt eyed the scalpel in Brad's hand warily.
Chad was lying on her side with drool pouring out of her half open mouth. She was fully conscious, Brad had used one of the paralytic drugs, so Chad was conscious. Damn, he knew this would hurt.
"Oh, yeah, my dad chipped me when I was 14, and let me chip my kid bro when he was 11. I'm old hat at installing chips. Now before I install it, let me make sure we have all the correct data in the chip, so if she ends up in a shelter, they can identify her and contact you."
Brad reviewed all the chip data with Kurt, encoded in the chip, and proceeded to use a scalpel to cut a small opening near Chad's shoulder to insert the chip. Then he professionally sutured the wound shut. Chad was in agony. He was humiliated, but at least Brad didn't know that the bitch dog he was working on was in fact his kid bro Chad.
