Luckily for Damon, the cleaning lady was quick and she possessed good reflexes. She was in luck in that she arrived in the nick of time. In fact, he was too. She rushed to the poor youngster, took him off the rope, and did first-aid gestures. After the ambulance came and took Damon to a hospital, he recovered slowly. Slowly, but surely. He thanked the cleaning maid profusely and made sure she was rewarded for her good deed. His doctors provided him with adequate medication and Damon was given ways to avoid fans and crowds. He retired to a more secluded and quiet place. He reconnected with Monica. He was still famous but in a more subdued fashion. He was less over-the-top and wild. Damon focused more upon hobbies and living simply.
When he moved, he found the lamp. Knowing he had no more wishes, he threw it away. He debated giving it to the kind maid but knowing the problems it guaranteed, he preferred her avoiding all this trouble. She certainly deserved none of that. Same thing with Monica. Or anyone, really. So he went to the river and decided to throw it in the water. No one would find it there and it was for the best.
"Goodbye and good riddance," he grumbled.
He made the lamp spin above his head, gathering momentum and he threw the lamp in the air towards the water. It spun in the dark and Damon heard a sound indicating it must be gone. Satisfied, he left, happy to see the cursed thing gone for good.
But of course, the lamp would not be gone so long...
