Monica was distraught at what had happened to Damon. True, once he had fame, he completely ignored her and dumped her as if she was simply not good enough for him. Sure, the girls he went put with were prettier than him but... but she was not a phony. She was not a phony and she had loved Damon for who he was, not as he got rich. These women never glanced at him when his bank account was sparsely replenished. How could he not have seen that? Yet for all her anger, she couldn't help feeling bad for Damon. He shouldn't have done something so desperate. Why did he not call her? She would have helped him, despite her anger and frustration at him. But that poor fool had not and now... well now she was left to sort through his belongings, before his family did the same. Though these vultures were more interested in the money than anything else. They sickened her more than the others.
As she thought out all of these reflections, Monica brushed the lamp as she moved it aside. She gasped as smoke erupted out of it and a feminine form dressed in an oriental style took form. A blue belly-dancer stood in front of her and Monica pinched herself to make sure she was not having an hallucination brought on by her sad and gloomy thoughts.
"Why hello. Guess your my new boss, am I right?" beamed the genie.
"I... So you're real?"
"Yep!" said the genie, spinning on herself as if she was having the time of her life.
"You knew Damon?" said slowly Monica.
She could hardly believe what she was seeing.
"Yes indeed. An unfortunate wish. Three unfortunate wishes, actually. But you mortals have to be careful with words. Magic is not a precise science, you know? It's not a science at all, in fact."
Monica was speechless. It was too incredible to believe but... here was the answer to her questions. Damon had made a wish and it had horribly backfired. She should learn from his mistakes and not deal with this genie. Forget the three wishes. But... But it WAS wishes. Three of them. Monica knew she could not pass up such an opportunity. She could learn from Damon's errors and just be a lot more careful with her wording. She just had to be super precise and then she'd get a great go at a better life. Just a little carefulness, and she'd get all her dreams come true.
