Stinebeck reached for his phone, hastily calling the state health department. "Hello, yes? This is Dr. Stinebeck, I'm a family doctor here in Glendale, Ohio. Yes, mhm, yes, yes I fear we may have an outbreak. The symptoms look like the Halving virus. What? Ok. No it's not contained. Ok, I will."
The doctor hung up, staring back at the school, within a matter of seconds the phone rang again, scrambling to pick it up. "Yes, hello, you're name is? Ok, Lee Chang, with the local health department, ok. Yea I think it's the Halving virus, the Glendale highschool is ground-zero. No I don't know how many are infected. OK. Oh my god."
The doctor wiped back his fading hair. The phone flicked off again. He slumped back in his car, waiting if a another call would arise, but one never did. After a few minutes a police cruiser appeared, then another and finally another. Cops rolled out yellow tap and started to create a barricade. A tap on his window caused the doctor to snap out of it.
"You're uh, the doctor right?" the cop asked. Stinebeck nodded. "Aight, they said you'd be here, I uh, I got orders to uh quanitine this whole place." The doctor flinched at the cops pronunciation of quarantine, but nodded with compliance as he started the car. They would certain be able to help more than he could, he began to pull out of the drive way to the highschool.
Jennifer slid off from the table, wobbling as her new height and weight was unfamiliar. "Woah, I feel uh, weird." she stuttered. Jennifer went to open the door, looking into the hallway, the doctor and the nurse were nowhere to be found. Jennifer frowned, maybe they were just going to find a smaller needle. Wait, Jennifer turned around then why did he leave his bag?
Jennifer looked down the hallway again as a kid stumbled into the hallway, wearing a yellow striped sundress. "Huh?" Jennifer looked surprised as suddenly the student sneezed, their hair going from a half-shaved punk to a pretty plain shoulder cut with bangs.
Jennifer leaned back into the nurses station, sneezing again. She felt even more light headed, "Oh, I think the doctor said it would make my motor skills, uh, weird." Jennifer stammered, trying to think of the right word to say.
Jennifer grabbed her backpack, now sized for her and matching her shirt with the cartoon characters. Jennifer stepped out into the hallway to go look for the nurse. A quick sneeze as Jennifer looked down feeling her height change again, fearing she'd shrunk she instead saw her shoes go from velco straps to now simple slip ons, light up slip on, her socks now covered in frills at the seam, perfect for a four and a half year old.
