Jamie was doing well for herself at cheerleading practice. Chloe and Mei were happy that their best friend seemed to be on top of her game. Jamie was amazed at how well all of the moves were coming to her, like she had been practicing them for a long time and not like someone who was an adult woman regressed down to teenage years. All of her old memories from the last few years of her work life were being replaced with her years of going from middle school into high school and remaining great friends with Chloe and Mei through all of it. She could remember Chloe's breakup with a boy when they found out they would be going to different high schools and how she and Mei were there to support her. She also remembered the backyard BBQ she had with her parents and grandparents with Chloe and Mei there as well on a Saturday when the girls were using her backyard to practice. Her old memories, like Jeff's memories, were beginning to change and become real as his were. Jamie couldn't think of Jeff as her son, or Amy as her daughter, that felt....wrong to her. She now thought of Jeff and Amy coming to support her at her first game and how they embarrassed her by cheering the loudest. She was also forgetting about Mike, as she thought more and more of Antonio.
While Chloe and Mei held Jamie up during one of their moves, Antonio was walking by and she looked down to give a quick wave shifting the weight of her body by accident and accidentally falling down onto the floor on top of Chloe and Mei, who groaned in pain.
"Well, well, well, so is this what you call 'teamwork and friendship'?" Lola asked as she and her two friends grinning maliciously at Jamie and her friends. "You losers will never be ready for the rematch on Wednesday. You won't be at the top, you'll be at the bottom, like you should be. Know why? Because you three are burras." Lola and her friends laughed as Jamie quickly stood up to try and throw a punch before Chloe and Mei grabbed her and held her back.
"Let me at her! Let me at her, I swear!" Jamie said to her friends as they held her back tightly.
"Forget it girl, she's not worth it." Chloe said holding her back.
"You don't want to do something you'll regret, the coaches could be watching." Mei warned her as Jamie stopped getting angry and instead calmed down.
"That was just a minor slip up Lola, we're still going to kick your butts on Wednesday, that's for sure." Jamie assured her as Lola and her friends turned their noses upwards at Jamie, Chloe, and Mei.
"Good luck with that, just be ready to sit in the stands for the halftime at homecoming like the burros you are." Lola said turning her head as they walked away.
Jamie almost jumped at her but was held back once again by Chloe and Mei.
"Jamie, girl, you can't let her get to you like that." Chloe said shaking her head.
"Right, and you can't get distracted by...." Mei began to say before Antonio stood in front of them.
"Antonio!" Jamie exclaimed as her voice squeaked.
"Hi, look, I'm sorry girls, I didn't mean to distract you from your training. Sorry if I ruined it for you." Antonio apologized.
"Ruined it? No, no, no, you didn't ruin it. You could never ruin anything, you're....perfect." Jamie replied with a sigh as she and Antonio stood there and looked at one another for a few moments.
"Oh, hey, sorry, I don't think I got your name before." Antonio asked Jamie as her face turned red and she opened her mouth to speak, but found it difficult once again.
"I'm....I'm....I'm....what's my name again?" Jamie asked Mei.
"Jamie."
"Right, Jamie, my name is.....Jamie, nice to finally meet you. We should talk again." Antonio said shaking Jamie's hand and then walked away.
Chloe and Mei looked at Jamie who looked like she was about to scream with joy. Jamie looked down at her hands, and her thoughts were trying to be of Mike, but now she felt her heart beating faster and faster for Antonio.
"Girls, Antonio just shook my hand! He actually shook my hand." Jamie said with joy as Chloe and Mei congratulated her.
"So....are you ready to get back to practice? We still got some time before your grandparents come get you." Mei asked as Jamie suddenly found her confidence again and nodded. They began again and didn't miss a beat, it would seem Jamie and her friend's rematch against Chloe would be a win. She was also wondering how Jeff and Amy's anniversary was going.
