The evening turned into a night and when Silvia finally had calmed herself down she asked from Jennifer to stay with her for the night in the master bedroom. Silvia explained to Jennifer that she had no idea when Mary was going to come back but she told her daughter that she was too afraid to sleep without someone familiar hugging her. The nine year old Jennifer laid on the bed with her fifteen year old mother. The two of them hugged each other for similar but different reasons. Jennifer thought that she had seen the worst but feared that the tomorrow was going the most hardest day of her life.
The next morning it was clear that year had gone by and Jennifer laid on the master bedroom’s bed with her snoring mother or what she could only call as the stinky mattress that was left of it. Jennifer heard a loud knock on the door which woke up Silvia. The door aggressively slammed open and a tall burly man entered the room.
“Haauuah!? Uncle Danny? What the fuck do you want? Don’t come in like that! I could have been naked!” Sylvia shouted at the man.
“I got a call from the town’s liquor store that you tried to buy beer with a forged driver’s license, Miss SYLVIA Smith.” The older man looked at Jennifer’s mother with distain in her eyes and threw a plastic card on the floor.
“Not this again! Give me a break!” Silvia jumped out of the bed and took the card from the floor. “I’m almost seventeen for Christ’s sake. My mom would have let me drink couple of beers.”
“Well your mom’s not here missy. I also know about the online profile you made last week.” Danny retorted back to Silvia. “It was pretty easy to guess who this ‘Sylvia69GimmeDatBlowie’ was, as there’s no one else in this small town who loves to call themselves s-Y-lvia. All I ask is that you don’t do anything stupid and end up like your mother and land yourself in prison for constant petty theft.”
“Ugh. Fine. Whatever unc. I won’t do it again. I promise.” Silvia scoffed.
“Great, that’s what I wanted to hear. How about you Jennifer? Has your mother been treating you right?” Danny asked from Jennifer.
“I think so…” Jennifer whimpered and looked at her young looking mother who crossed her arms and gave the stink eyes to the man next to her.
Jennifer took a closer look at the middle aged man who was standing in the bedroom. He looked like a very stereotypical uncle of the house who was strong enough to change a car tire but had a small pudgy belly indicated that he didn’t eat as healthy as he should have. When Silvia stood next to the man she could only reach to his chest which made him head and a half taller than her sixteen year old mother. He wore a simple colored black hoodie and track pants. The shoes seemed to be the most cheapest ones any one could find at second hand market. He looked exactly but not quite what Mary would have looked like if she had born as a man. Danny seemed to be the one taking care of them as he acted more mightier than her mother.
“Okay. Now that this is taken care of I need you two to prepare for the school. Which means Silvia you need to use your real driver’s license and drive your child to school like a real parents should.” Danny commanded Silvia.
“What the fuck!? I’m not going to touch your hunk of junk. My friends are going to die from laughter when they see me driving on the school yard with your rust bucket.” Silvia pointed at herself and tapped her foot on the floor.
“That’s the only car we have left. Need I remind you why we only have one car instead of two?” Danny sternly looked at Silvia.
“Okay. First of all. Not my fault that the other car appeared in front of me.” Silvia replied back.
“Then logically there’s only one car you can use today, right?” Danny smugly laughed at Silvia.
“Fuck, fine, whatever Unc. I do as you say and drive Jennifer to her school with your car. Come Jennifer. Let's go.” Silvia smacked her lips as she exited the room.
