"Oh, give Mommy her phone back," Sophia said playfully. She grabbed the phone from Jane. "All right, Janie girl, let's get to the car. Daddy and your brothers are waiting." She picked Jane up and carried her out of the daycare, waving goodbye to a worker Jane recognized as Jeremy.
Sophia walked up to a massive van in the parking lot. She opened the door. Five car seats held Jane's brothers. The sixth was empty and bright pink. Sophia buckled Jane in. Jane tried to get Sophia's phone again, but her new mommy had wised up. It was firmly out of her limited reach. Sophia smiled at her.
"No, you can't have Mommy's phone. But you can have your paci!" Sophia pulled out a pink, sparkly pacifier and popped it into Jane's mouth. Jane sucked on it instinctively. "Let's go, darling," Sophia said as she got into the passenger's seat. Mr. Thomson, behind the wheel, started the car.
Jane tried not to feel helpless. She had accidentally made Sophia her mommy, which was actually a good thing. For one, it meant Jane was probably attractive. But more importantly, it gave her more chances to get the phone back. The meantime, however, was going to be brutal. Being this young was bad enough. Being the only girl of six? She was going to be subjected to every girly thing under the sun.
Jane sighed behind her pacifier and settled back, deciding to wait until an opportunity struck. She closed her eyes, and before long drifted off to sleep.
Sophia looked in the back. Her children were all sleeping, thanks to their pacifiers. She turned to face the front again. She loved having such a big family, but having six babies at once was a lot. Thankfully, after two years, she and her husband Jack were finally figuring it out.
Humming softly to herself, Sophia pulled out her phone. It was open to an app she didn't recognize. On screen was a sentence.
"Sophia is tired but happy about her six children with her loving husband."
