With a surge of hope, she hit Confirm, not knowing what to expect. Sophia's eyes widened as she noticed her phone slipping from Jane's grasp, but it was too late. The screen flickered, and reality shifted once more.
As the change took hold, Sophia vanished, replaced by a woman Jane had never seen before. The unfamiliar woman wore a warm smile and efficiently continued changing Jane's diaper. But that wasn't the most astonishing part – another toddler girl, around Jane's age, lay beside her on the changing table. The employee began to change this new toddler's diaper, cooing softly.
"Time for a fresh diaper, Sophia!"
Jane's eyes widened. Sophia? The toddler beside her was Sophia? Surely the phone ended up transforming Sophia into her sister, and just by her looks, Sophia seemed to have lost her memories, since now she only babbled and giggled at the employee's friendly comments.
As the employee continue changing Sophia's diaper, Jane seized the opportunity to use the app again and started trying to find a sentence that would help her return to normal. She generated different sentences and change them, but each time she hit Confirm, nothing seemed to change about her situation.
As the employee neared the end of the diaper-changing process, Jane panicked. With seconds to spare, she generated one final sentence, modified some prompts, and pressed Confirm. This time, Sophia's expression changed. Her eyes lit up with recognition, and she gasped.
"What's going on? Why am I...like this?" Sophia's voice was laced with confusion and alarm. Jane giggled, relieved that Sophia had regained her memories. However, before she could explain, the employee turned towards them. Jane quickly threw the phone behind the changing table, completely out of sight.
The employee scooped up both Jane and Sophia, carrying them outside to the waiting van. Both Jane and Sophia were surprised to see that some things had changed drastically. Mr. Thompson, was now a tall, imposing woman in a business suit. And Jane’s brothers were now girls who wore different outfits. Soon, Jane and Sophia were placed in toddler car seats side by side. Both of them starting getting fussy about this (Sophia especially), but Mrs. Thompson put them pacifiers into their mouths to calm them down. To their surprise, the pacifiers did relax them quite a bit, and before they knew it, the van starting moving forward.
As the van moved, Jane continue sucking her pacifier, lost in thought. Sophia, however, was not so calm. She began tapping Jane's shoulder, demanding answers. "Tell me what's happening! Why am I a toddler?" Sophia's voice was muffled by the pacifier, but her urgency was clear. And, indeed, Jane had a lot to explain to her.
