With just how crazy things had been with the whole Seraphim and Superior Church as of late, Charlotte Moreland was glad she at least got to spend some date time with her boyfriend, Clay.
Clay was a very sweet guy, the two had met when Charlotte had taken her mom to see one of the races and Nina thought they would get a closer look at the racers after one of the racing days had finished. Charlotte saw a lot of older racers there of course, but Clay was one of the younger racers there who she struck up a conversation with. Nina could tell right away that her daughter had become smitten with the young man. She had left them alone for a while before Charlotte met back up with her mother to tell her they had a date planned for later. Nina was happy for her daughter, of course meeting the rest of the Moreland family might take some time. Charlotte did eventually introduce Clay to her brothers, of course Clay met them one at a time so as to not overload him with questions. Luckily for her, her brothers all seemed to like Clay.
"Char', you feelin' okay?" Clay asked Charlotte in his southern accent. Charlotte smiled as she looked across the bar table they sat in with Clay having drank most of his glass while Charlotte seemed to have drank little of hers.
"Yeah, sorry Clay, I just got stuff on my mind. My family and I have just been dealing with.....personal stuff that's a little too complicated to get into." Charlotte explained.
"Well, I wish you would tell me what that is. We been dating for quite a while now Char', but you haven't exactly told me what it is you and your family do for a living." Clay smiled.
"I guess you could say we have our own private business work that we've done. My brothers have done it, my uncle's done it, my.....my daddy did it." Charlotte said rather quietly.
"Sorry, I know bringing up your dad can be hard for you. You said he died when you were pretty young?" Clay asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I was. My brother and I were just barely one year old at the time. I've seen pictures, videos, but I have very few vague memories with him. There was actually.....one thing I always wanted to do with him but....I'll never be able to do that." Charlotte sighed.
"What would that be?" Clay asked.
"It's....well, I suppose it's a personal thing." Charlotte replied.
Clay nodded understanding that there were some things he knew not to ask about if Charlotte really didn't want to.
"Come on, I'll drive you home." Clay said as he put his arm around her shoulders and she put her hand on his waist and Clay dropped Charlotte off at her house before giving a honk goodbye as Charlotte waved him away.
"Hi Charlotte, how was your date with Clay?" Nina asked as she looked up from watching the TV.
"Good, I just....had other things on my mind. I was....thinking about daddy again. I've been thinking about him a lot ever since that video." Charlotte confessed.
"I'm sure, did you want to talk to me about it?" Nina asked.
"Nah, not really mom, I think I'm going to bed." Charlotte said as she headed up to her room.
Nina had a thought and got out her phone and began dialing someone.
"Hi it's Nina, Nina Moreland, listen, I was wondering if you're able to do something for my daughter." Nina said.
Charlotte was in her room getting ready for bed, as she got changed into her pajamas she looked at a picture of herself with her father and gave a small smile before she got into bed. It took a while, but eventually, she went to sleep.
In Charlotte's dream, she dreamed she walked into the living room of her old house, she saw her father watching a football game on TV while infant versions of her and Chase were nearby.
"Uh.....hi dad." Charlotte said walking into the living room as her father looked up to see her.
"Charlotte, is that you? You look just like your mom." Jacob said almost surprised.
"Thanks dad, do you mind if I sit down with you?" Charlotte asked.
"Sure, you can sit down and watch the game with me." Jacob said as he looked toward the TV at a football game.
"Ugh, what's the point of talking to you now? It's only a dream anyway." Charlotte commented to herself.
'And in a near tie game, the Chiefs have won against the 49ers in this year's Superbowl!' The announcer on the TV said.
"Ha ha! Did you see that?" Jacob asked Charlotte who was a little surprised.
"Wait, I was only a baby when this happened, how do I remember it so vividly?" Charlotte asked herself before someone else appeared beside her.
"Hi there Charlotte." Travis greeted with a gentle smile.
"Travis? What are you doing here in my dream?" Charlotte asked.
"You mean in your father's dream." Travis clarified.
"Wait....what?" Charlotte asked confused.
"Short explanation is it's one of my abilities. You've got a little time with your father in a dream he's having in the past while you're having one in the future. Use this time to your advantage, and when you wake up, you can thank your mom." Travis said before disappearing.
"D-D-Daddy? Is it really you?" Charlotte asked.
"Yes, you've grown into such a beautiful woman. Did you want to tell me something?" Jacob asked.
"No, but....there is something I've always wanted to do with you." Charlotte said as she got up and her clothes turned into a dress.
Jacob stood up and knew what Charlotte was getting at and took his daughter's hands and started dancing with her.
As they danced, they could hear the song 'Butterfly Kisses' playing.
'Sweet 16 today, she's looking like her mama, a little more everyday, one part woman, the other part girl, to perfume and make-up, from ribbons and curls, trying her wings out in a great big world. But I remember, Butterfly kisses....'
Charlotte and Jacob danced with each other and didn't say anything as they just looked at each other and smiled as they continued dancing in their dream before they would both later wake up.
