Red grins as you feel your smooth, round face and thick, tangled hair. Red hair, like hers. You look down and find that your clothes have changed as well, becoming kid's jeans, sneakers, and a T-shirt over a skinny child's body. You guess that you now look like a little brother to the powerful young witch.
"Wow!" You stare up at her in wonder. "This is awesome! Can I stay like this?"
The girl looks at you and giggles. "You want to stay a third grader?"
You feel wonderful - full of energy, ready to run for miles and leap and play. Being a kid is terrific. So what if you look different - you'll enjoy growing up all over again! "Yeah! Please! Can I stay like this? I don't want to be a grownup again!"
"OK!" She laughs and pats you on your head. You feel sorta funny, but then everything is great. You run over to the monket bars and start climbing around, then get on the swings, then just run around for the sheer fun of it. Other children show up, and you play chase, hide and seek, and wrestle until it starts to get dark, The other kids all go home, and you realize you are alone in the park. Red is gone. You need to go home yourself, but you can't remember where it is!
Your eyes widen in fear and you try to think real hard. There's a lot of stuff in your head - you know how to add real good, and you can spell Mississippi. The teacher says you are doing real good. Huh? Wait a minute! You aren't really a third grader! But as you keep trying to remember things, you discover that your skills and abilities are now those of a 9 year-old boy. And you can't even remember your own name or where you live!
