Andi sighed. She didn't bother looking at the names. She knew what she wanted for her children. Her sons in particular.
"Julius, I care not their social status or species," she said firmly. "All I care for when it comes to the boys is how big of a dowry we will get from the girl's parents." That money would be then used for a dowry for Andi's daughters.
"You want our boys to marry rich," Julius said. Andi nodded. "I see. Well, I can't disagree with your judgement." Julius had given up much of the bookkeeping to Andi, who had a knack for it, so he listened to her when it came to money. "And the girls?"
"For them, social status matters," Andi said. Men brought their spouses up to their level. Or down. Her daughters would not lose their noble titles through marriage. "My friend Willa is currently a surrogate for the centaur royal family. She carries triplet sons, like before. I can have her put in a good word for us, so that our soon to be born triplet girls can be engaged to her soon to be born triplet boys."
"An excellent idea," Julius said. He cleared his throat. "I do have one requirement for our sons."
"Oh?"
"At least one must marry a local, so that he will stay in town to take over the family business."
"I am fine with that."
"Good. Luckily, we have a lot of options. Many families have lately become rich." Julius grabbed a pen from behind his ear and circled some names on the list. "What do you think of these options for our sons?"
Andi peered down at the list. Her eyes widened at a name she recognized. She pointed to it.
