Even if she didn't know who the guest was Patrick. So when the surprise guest arrived, Marcia did a double-take. It was Patrick! Patrick! Marcia had glimpsed the valiant knight in his shiny armor from afar, riding on his strong horse, but never close. He was always on a quest or on another, or living his own adventurous life. He was still so handsome! And Marcia was divided. She still felt in love with him, his female instincts having clearly only increased in time. Yet on the other hand, seeing him again brought a lot of angry feelings. He had left her! He'd promised to marry her but then he'd just gotten rid of her to the first moron in sight, barely checking his credentials or anything! Not very chivalric! Sire, Bufo was more than decent, accepting eleven foster boys in one go, but still... Marrying Patrick would have been so much better! And here he was, checking in on her with big smiles, talking as if he'd done his best and should not feel any remorse for all of the false promises he'd said! What a cad! Marcia had set a table for the children outside and laid the baby in its crib so as to get some peace and quiet to talk, but in the end the two men really conversed. She barely did. Patrick acted all condescending towards her, explaining how happy he was that Bufo was living in town, like that she now had a second chance and the right life as a mother. He even complimented on her "healthy figure". Marcia was not fooled. She knew she'd gotten fat, what with the nursing, the pregnancies, the sedentary lifestyles and the rich food consumed. As if Bufo was any better, what with his humongous pot belly! By the time Patrick left, she was glad to see him leave and wished as she did the dishes that he'd come to an awful end. He certainly deserved it!
