When Dustin and Ty got home from school, Ty wasn't too surprised that June was home again, but he wss surprised when she knocked on his bedroom door a while later. "Hi Mom," he said when he opened the door. "What's up?"
"I want you to see something," she said. He followed her to the laundry room, which looked entirely normal. She opened the washer and dryer doors, and as she started transferring wet clothes into the previously empty dryer, she said, "Because you've done several transformations to me, and given me the ability to undo and redo them, I discovered that I can do something interesting." She finished loading the dryer, emptied the lint filter, put in a fabric softener sheet, and closed the door.
"Are you going to transform into the dryer?" Ty asked. "Do you want me to start you?"'
"Yes, I'll transform," June confirmed, "but maybe not like you're expecting. Earlier today I accidentally discovered that I can do this." She pressed the 'start' button, and the dryer rumbled into operation. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but June said, "Watch this!"
Ty wasn't sure what you expect, but the clothes dryer suddenly disappeared. He was at a loss for a moment, then asked June, "You merged with it?"
"Yes," she said smiling."And I'm still running, even in my merged human form! I have the same wonderful feeling of clothes tumbling inside me, getting warmed and dried, but now I can do other stuff at the same time. Thanks to the accident before, where you forgot to unmerge me before transforming me back to human, now I can undo and redo that transformation, too!"
"And what happens when the cycle is done?" Ty asked.
"Well, I don't hear the buzzer, and I don't really know where it is, just as we don't hear my motor and the clothes tumbling, or know where they are," June said. "But I can feel them, and when the cycle finishes, I feel the tumbling stop. Then I can come back in here, unmerge myself, and take out the dry clothes. Ty, this is wonderful! Thank you so much for doing this for me!" She kissed him on the cheek.
"Great, Mom! I'm glad you like it!" Ty said. He was astounded. When June had asked to be the dryer, neither of them had envisioned this human-dryer hybrid, but apparently she liked it even more that just being the dryer. "I'm going to go do my homework, Mom."
"OK, Ty," June said. "Remember to be ready at 5:30."
"Yes, Mom," Ty said, and headed up the stairs to his room.
