Within the jar, Monica croaked pitifully and tried jumping out. To no avail, of course. She was then placed in a large terrarium, which contained all sorts of amphibians. Monica landed on her side with a wet thud and very clumsily. She croaked her protest but no one could possibly understand her. With feeble movements from her short limbs, she straightened herself up. The terrarium was deftly closed and the carnival worker stepped away, leaving the inhabitants of the terrarium to their own. Monica hopped to the glass wall but the back of the worker disappeared. Well, it was not like he wanted to help her anyway. Monica was miserable and she tried to avoid thinking about how the mud on her side did not feel as gross as it should have been. And Damon! Though now a woman, he could try to rescue her! But the hot chick he now was made no sign of coming. What a jerk!
Monica turned around to stare at the other dwellers of the wide terrarium. Few people came to gawk at them anyway. There was much more fun to be had at other attractions at the carnival. But Monica could see frogs, toads, lizards, salamanders, turtles, tortoises and newts. They looked normal but... Monica had the intense suspicion that all had angered Madame Illusia who had punished them. And she was right. All reptiles and amphibians used to be people. And very few had become animals by choice. Monica looked at them while they stared at the newcomer. The former human girl wondered how long they'd been there, and reflected that the answer might scare her immensely. Would she really have to live her life as a toad?
