Looking at the crowd of teens milling about outside the school, or heading inside it, Jennifer felt like she wanted to be anywhere else but here. She used to own this school, and now she was an outcast, on the outside looking in. Her friends, her real friends, probably treated her like the total freak that she actually now was.
Maybe she could just skip school. She had never done something like that, though she had a feeling that in this new reality, she had done it many times before. Jennifer turned and looked back at Daniel, who gave her a spaced-out grin, but the moment she laid her eyes on him, that idea died in her throat. She couldn't even stand sitting next to this guy on her way to the school. What made her think she could put up with spending the next several hours with him?
