For a long time, Frank had wanted to be a father. He thought he'd make a good father and with his wife, Lori, he had thought that would be a certainty. However, he had a rare condition called Jacobs syndrome, more commonly known as XYY syndrome. There had been misconceptions that men with extra Y chromosomes tended to be more inclined to criminal violence and aggression. Of course, Frank hadn't believed this discredited theory, but Lori was a firm believer. She didn't want to have children who might inherit this unstable trait, which led to their divorce.
Since then, Frank was able to find new purpose for himself. Or more appropriately, Frankie was able to find new purpose for hirself. Not long after shi became a herm Holstein cow, shi met Reese who was a herm Belgian Blue. The two of them quickly became bond-mates and started planning to marry and have calves, not necessarily in that order. At first, Frankie wanted to be the mother to Reese's child. But in a small twist of fate, then ended up impregnating each other at the same time. That led to a marriage under the solar eclipse before they got too big for their wedding clothes. And a few months later, they were ready to give birth.
==========
Frankie was rather sore and irritable when shi was brought into the delivery room. It wasn't just because shi was going to be pushing a huge mass through hir birth canal. While shi knew that as a dairy cow, shi'd be producing a lot more milk than usual while shi was pregnant, but she wasn't prepared for just how much. Hir breasts swelled with so much extra milk each day that shi felt rather sore until shi had a chance to be pumped, and often that was more than once in a day. Shi was producing more milk than two calves could drink and had to get a second refrigerator to hold all the bottles until shi can sell them. Of course, shi also ended up drinking a lot of them hirself to replenish hir own calcium levels.
Of course, Frankie wasn't alone. Reese was also there with hir, going through hir own contractions. Since the Belgian Blue was bred more for beef than milk, hir milk production was more manageable. Still, shi was more than ready to get hir calf out. The two of them were mooing and bellowing as muscles were being used in unfamiliar ways. Fortunately, this constant pressure couldn't go on forever.
Eventually, the two of them finally gave birth. Both calves were rather large, which also explained why Frankie had a harder time than Reese. They were also herms like their parents. Frankie gave birth to a white calf that was covered in blue-grey splotches that she named Louise. Reese's calf was mostly black, though with a white front, tip of hir tail, and the lower halves of hir arms and legs, though the last two also had small black splotches on the white parts. Reese named her Patty Carol after hir parents, though it was mostly going to be shortened to P.C.
Of course, things were far from over at this point. Both of the new mothers’ ‘udders’ will be producing extra milk for the next few months. Judging by other cow Animalians’ post-pregnancy periods, their milk production will return to normal levels in 18 months at most. Fortunately, Animalia has long since set up a milk drive for cow and goat Animalians to sell their milk to so it can be pasteurized and sold to humans. Lyre has become the dairy capital of Nevada, though some people are understandably less eager to drink milk that came from a cow’s breast instead of an udder.
