When Lisa and Ty joined June, Mark, and Dustin at the dining room table, Dustin nearly fell out of his chair. "Um, Lisa..." he said, "you know that you're... different, right?"
"Yes, Dustin," Lisa said. "I had Ty transform me. I'm sad that I can't be this way at school or in public, but I want to be this way in our homes."
"Lisa and Ty asked your father and I about it," June said. "We both looked at her, and were both amazed, and since we didn't see any harm to it, we told her that she could be in this form in our house, when she wants."
Dustin couldn't take his eyes off Lisa, but said to June, "Wow, that's great, Mom!"
June started serving dinner, and they started discussing their typical topics like school, work, and the weather. Lisa noticed Mark and June stealing glimpses of her from time to time, and trying not to stare. Dustin, on the other hand, never took his eyes off her.
"Dustin, have you decided what kind of car you want?" Mark asked. That did finally draw Dustin's eyes away from Lisa, though only briefly.
"Yes, Dad," Dustin said. "I know you don't want me to get anything too ostentatious. Would a Passport crossover be OK? A friend has one. I like it, and it has enough room that I could take a few friends places."
"I think that's a fine choice, son," Mark said. He looked to June, who nodded. "You and Ty can work out the details. Just be sure to get a title for it, and I'll take care of registration and insurance. Now, that will be a non-trivial expense, but June and I have agreed to pay it, for now. After you graduate from high school, we're hoping that you can work part time while you go to college, and maybe pay part of it, but that's a subject for a future discussion."
"Thank you, Dad! Mom!" Dustin said, somehow managing to tear his eyes off Lisa again.
"Dad, why don't you and June and I have a talk later, about those costs," Ty said. "I think maybe I can help with that."
"Well, OK, we can certainly discuss it," Mark said. "And in related news, we want you to know that we approved the transformation you requested. It is, of course, still contingent on Maria and Diego also approving it."
"Thank you!" Ty said.
"What transformation is that?" Lisa asked.
"Oh, just a little something I thought up this last week, when I was bored because I couldn't see you," Ty explained. "I know you have your driver's license, but don't yet have your own car. I thought that maybe, for a weekend, I could... transform into a car for you."
Lisa looked dumbfounded. "Ty, that's... that's an incredibly generous thing for you to offer. And thank you, Mark and June. I think my parents will be rather... surprised... when we ask them. I'm a bit worried about how they'll react."
"Well, the worst that can happen is that they can say no," Ty said.
Lisa frowned briefly. "Maybe it's a bit soon to spring this idea on them, given that I only just asked them about my aquarium form."
"That's OK," Ty said. "I'm not in any hurry. If you want me to do it, you can ask your parents whenever you think it's best. I'll just have to let my parents know if and when I'm actually going to do it."
They finished their dinner with miscellaneous discussions, and Dustin stared at Lisa the whole time. Afterward, it was Ty's turn to do dishes, but Dustin volunteered to help, to save time. Before he left the table, though, he quietly whispered to Lisa, "I hope you'll forgive me for staring at you so much, but you are just... incredible!"
"Thank you, Dustin," she whispered back. "You're forgiven. Part of why I asked Ty for this transformation is that I _want_ it to be stared at. I don't want Ty and myself to be the only ones who see it."
