Unknown to Chris, Alex's eyes glazed over a moment as she zone out and toward the wall. The now half-feline female still cried, eyes partly closed and obscured with tears. Alex's head shook and she resumed trying to comfort her.
"Chris, it's OK...don't cry..." She smiled and spoke gently. "You have nothing to cry about..."
"What?!?" Chris's head rose to look to her before her eyes narrowed. "What do you mean? I'm...a cat...thing. I'm as far from myself as I can get..." Tears were quickly welling back up. Alex's look shifted from concern to a tad of confusion.
"Chris? Why is this bothering you now? Did they...make fun of you again baby?" She put her arms around her in a close embrace. Chris blinked, tears fading as her own confusion was setting in.
"Make fun of me? What the hell are you talking about? I just changed into this...thing! And why are you calling me baby?" Alex once again gave her an odd look.
"Chris...you've always been like this." She told her as a hand rose to run through the fur upon her arm. "And I know how the guys at school sometimes make fun of you for it...but you don't need to...deny it because of them. You got to be who you are. And I always loved how you look." Alex's cheek fell to nuzzle into hers. Chris was shocked. Why was her friend acting like this? She knew! She saw it! But...why was she acting like it was normal?
"Alex...what's going on? Why are you acting like this? You know that I just changed into this...I used to be human and male!" Alex stared and then laughed.
"Right Chris...you...really must be hurt by those guys to do something like this." Alex's embrace tightened and then...she kissed her right on her cheek. "Chris...think. This is how you've always been. You don't need to pretend to be human or even male. I love you the way you are."
"You love me!?!" She stared at her in shock, muscles tensing. Now she was getting freaked out. The kiss and those words...what the hell happened to her friend? A paw-like hand fell to grasp the amulet as she looked down to it. This thing...it must've done it!
Alex looked a bit surprised at that reaction and pulled back a moment.
"Well...yes...yes I do. You...love me too...right?" She asked tentatively. Chris's eyes rose and looked upon her. Her face was filled with worry...eyes wide and her lip quivered. Chris couldn't hurt her...even if she was acting crazy. But...it was this amulet...could she just go on with what this amulet forced upon her?
