Ben stared over the form detailing available types of change and his jaw dropped. It was overwhelming to look at! There was so much… and that “trial” timer was still counting down. He had about five minutes to choose, it seemed, but Ben couldn’t decide.
Suddenly his laptop’s monitor flashed a series of different odd shapes and colors, and a tiny holographic female appeared on his coffee table, perhaps a little over a foot tall. Ben looked down and blinked. If a web site could read his DNA, why couldn’t it project a tiny woman on his coffee table too? He sighed in disbelief and shook his head from the sheer oddness of it all.
“Hello!” the tiny woman said cheerfully, “My name is Veronica and I am the Major Changes transformational assistant.”
“Hi, Veronica.” Ben said in a less than enthusiastic tone. “What now?”
The little woman crossed her arms across her glowing transparent body and tapped her foot. “What now, indeed. It looks like you need some help during your five minute – sorry, four minute – four minute free trial of Major Changes.”
“How are you even here?” Ben asked, staring at the annoyed little hologram staring up at him.
Veronica growled a little, which caught Ben by surprise. “It doesn’t matter now! Do you want to try a transformation or not?”
Pushy little thing, wasn’t she?!
“Well, yes, but there’s so many choices!” Ben said.
“Of course there are!” Veronica said, resuming a sweet smile. “So pick something to change about yourself and I’ll help you through the process! If you like the service, you can sign up. It’s cheap.”
“Uh…” Ben said, looking down at Veronica and then over himself.
“Come on, come on!” Veronica said testily, “I’ve haven’t got all day, stud.”
In annoyance Ben blurted out the first thing on his mind…
