"Transform or Dare?" Susan said angrily.
"Transform, please," Jennifer replied squeamishly. She hoped Susan wasn't going to make her regret insulting her.
"You will stop changing every time you insult someone. Instead, you will immediately change into a humanoid rat. Nobody will think this is unnatural except the two of us. Each time you do something nice for someone, you will shift partway back into a human. Once you have returned to a fully human body, the curse will have lifted. Also, this change cannot be reversed by anyone other than me, so don't try giving T or D to somebody else to fix your problem."
Jennifer started to feel a prickling on her skin. She gasped when she saw ragged brown fur creeping up her arms. Her hands stretched into lanky fingers with sharp claws.
"I'd love to stay and watch you change, but I'm as late for school as I want to be." Susan began to walk out the door to Jenn's room. "Enjoy life as a good samaritan!"
Jennifer watched pitifully as the cowgirl left the room. Her body was shaking, partly from anger and partly from fear of her new form. She watched her reflection in horror as her floppy cow ears stretched, rose and grew into freakishly large rat's ears. Her face pushed into a long, thin muzzle, complete with long front teeth and crooked whiskers. Brown fur covered her completely at this point, and her feet burst through her shoes. She developed the thin legs and wide torso of a rat, with thick fur and a ropey tail that spread several feet across the floor. Her posture was slightly hunched over, and no matter what she did, she couldn't keep her large teeth contained within her mouth. The pathetic-looking rat-girl began to cry into her forepaws as she heard Susan's car start up and pull out of her driveway.
