Mary had just finished her breakfast of eggs, orange juice and her favorite morning friend, Captain Crunch. She was cleaning her dishes when a pain hit her spine. It started low and quickly shot up to her head, causing her to drop her bowl into the sink and clutch her backside. She couldn't figure out what was wrong, yet the pain persisted. Mary could tell that the pain was at its worst at the very base of her spine, and when she slipped a hand underneath her waistline to rub the spot, it connected with something that wasn't supposed to be there.
She screamed loudly. Her first thought was a giant spider had crawled into her pants and bit her. She was incredibly afraid of spiders. In a flash, her pants were down around her ankles, and she was shaking them off of her legs. She watched the discarded clothing for signs of movement, but nothing came out of them. She carefully placed another hand on her backside to see if there really was a bite there; it was still hurting a bit, though it wasn't nearly as sharp as when her pants were on.
There was still something there. Something thick and long and...what the hell was it? Knowing that there wasn't a spider in existence shaped like a tube, Mary chanced a glance behind her, stretching her neck to see exactly what the source of her problem was.
Her eyes widened at the sight of a long fleshy tube growing from just above her butt. They widened even more when she realized it was getting longer. Her hands grasped the nearly two-foot long protrusion. Amazingly, she could have sworn she felt her own fingers through it. She gave it a small pinch and winced at the pain. This thing was a part of her!
Mary stood there, mesmerized by what she now realized was a tail growing slowly out of her own body. It was flesh-toned and had indented rings, like segments, every few inches with a few tiny hairs plucking out of them. The tail grew down to the floor. Through its skin Mary could feel the chill of the linoleum just as she could through the bottoms of her bare feet. It continued to gather on the ground, hanging limp from her butt. Mary concentrated, trying to see if she could move it on her own. She managed to flex the right muscles, but it only budged a tiny bit, swinging a few inches from side to side.
As it continued to emerge from her tailbone, it grew thicker. Soon it was two and a half inches thick at the base, tapering out to a rounded point at the far end. After a couple minutes, it seemed to stop growing. Mary still didn't move, watching intently for more signs of movement, but nothing happened. The tail was curled up on the floor around her feet, so to find out just how long it was, she walked forward. Her limp tail uncoiled to follow her, and she stopped when it straightened all the way out. She was surprised to see how long it was. Even after going from her butt to the ground, it was still trailing behind her by at least four feet. What an incredible tail!
Mary couldn't deny it anymore; that Vial was magic. Or perhaps some new form of science that was light years ahead of anything she knew about. At any rate, it worked! She walked swiftly around her house, feeling the drag of her tail and marveling at the sensations its seven feet of nerves were sending her. How lucky was she, to have the chance to really experience other forms and feelings. Her mind flooded with the many things she had yet to try...
