"Well," she says in a voice muffled by the costume to the farmer as she steps out, "Is this a good choice?"
"Excellent one, Jessie. And it fits quite well on ya too." He gives her a 'thumbs up' as he leans up against a fence. "Do ya mind startin' up right now?"
"Now? I don't... I don't know... I..." Jessie swallows a lump in her throat as she looks to the crowd of kids gathering at the entrance.
"Don't worry about it. If ya can't do it, you c'n start tomorrow..."
"No, no... I'll do it now. I just wasn't expecting to start so soon." She takes a deep breath and looks back to the farmer. "Okay, here I go..."
And with a dancing, loping step, she makes her way over to the kids and performs for them as the farmer watches from a distance.
"I almost feel bad f'r the girl," he says to nobody in particular, "But hey, it's her fault she didn't read the contract before she signed it. Hehe. Hehehehe."
